i will take his "suckass" defense over what we had last year. for instance, in 07 when we played them in atlanta their defense was rakend in the 70s however we managed to score on offensive touchdown in that game. in 06 i don't think their defense was ranked very high either, yet JR threw three picks, one being for a td. it seems like even when his defenses aren't rated that high they seem to improve as the year goes on. last year, our defense never did that and even though they were ranked 32nd in the country i don't think they were as good as tennesee's defense in 07 at the end of the year.

And you say Bama fans are delusional. Top 5 is iffy for Ole Miss, but top 10 is legit at least for the preseason. It's a much bigger travesty to put LSU in the top 10 than Ole Miss.

L. S. U. - 38 G. T. - 3 means that the Tigers have improved quite a bit. LSU is young.

Ole Miss will defeat LSU in Oxford 2009.

Alabama should lose to them also however Alabama has these mystery calls which always provides 14 additional points in every Ole Miss match up.

last i saw his defense was ranked #1 in the SEC, from your very own rankings.. how does that qualify as having fielded "suck arse defenses lately".. looks like some pretty solid production in his last year from a guy you considered "figured out"

Who gives a shite if it was a combined 4 points it will be remembered as a loss. I for one only care about the W. If only by a point so be it.

Chavis's defense held UGA to 14 pts when they had one of the best teams they ever had in '07. And that year the TN O actually was alot better than it was this past year. Maybe b/c Cutcliffe came back and coached?

I will say this: I would take Chavis over Martinez.

Exactly. The year before his defense gave up 33 to UGA team that used a combo of True Freshman Matt Stafford and Joe freaking Tereshinski at QB (OM and Colorado had held us to 14 each the weeks leading to the game).

He was always "up and down"..that's not my complaint, it's what the stats show and what UT fans said. WillyMart and Chavis are actually pretty similar. They can have some great games..then some real stinkers. Sometimes it even varies greatly from QTR to QTR with both of them. He's a good coach, but not a great one.

So a DC has to be perfect?.. i can remember times when the great Nick Saban fielded some horrendous defenses at LSU.. shite ULM dropped 3 touchdowns on him just a season ago

from what i've been told by the tennessee fans i know they think he is a great dc. they were not high on the db coach and the dl coach though. if i'm not mistaken his defense has been ranked in the top 15 5 out of the past 8 years. either way slice it, he's a hell of a lot better than what we had last year and he brought in two very good postion coaches with him. i think LSU's defense will be back.

it's a legit point. it shows you how close ole miss to being a contender for the west.

They beat UF, no doubt great win. But who else did they beat, we sucked last year, so don't give me that shite. Texas Tech in a BS bowl, come on.

Unreal that they are ranked top 5 by some polls. It literally makes no sense at all. Most teams have to be in the top 5 or 10 all year to recieve a good ranking the following year. They are going to fall hard and early.

Honestly I hate the fact that we're going to be ranked so high. But the thing that makes Ole Miss ranked so high is it has the least amount of question marks out of all the SEC West teams. P{lus we have the second best quarterback in the SEC and will have a pretty legit defense again.

No doubt. Yall are definitely the favorites this year in the West. IMHO

Its not coming out of nowhere. Auburn or Arkansas winning the West would be coming out of no where.

It is not about having question marks, it is about the ability to answer the God Damn question.

Ole Miss cannot answer the bell with the best the SEC has to offer. They cannot.

LSU will come back and be in the National picture for most of the year, and we do have the tools and talent to answer all of our so called "questions"

What do you have to base all of that off of exactly? We fricking beat Florida last year!

With OM schedule, they should answer the bell this year. If they don't, then I don't know if they ever will. I'm just talking about getting to Atlanta. They have the schedule to get there. You said "best the SEC has to offer," but OM doesn't play the best the SEC has to offer.

They don't play FLA or UGA this year. That helps alot. Their toughest games are at home.
