From my perspective, I think most Aggie fans moved on with the SEC transition. Having grown up in the 80s and 90s (the RayCom era) the Longhorn pride was an interesting thing. Texas football was pretty un-competitive as were traditional powers like LSU, USC, and Oklahoma. A&M had beat Texas something like 11 out of the last 12 games when I went off to college and most Longhorn fans were living off dying nostalgia from the peak of the Darrel Royal era of the late 1960s. It was a pretty docile media time back then with Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Athlon being the opinion shaping media outlets.
Then along came Mack Brown and the internet and some of the most hilarious, crusty, depraved old boosters you could ever dream of . . Joe Jamail, Red McCombs, etc and the whole Longhorn pride thing went into massive overdrive.
I think it was their second place status to Oklahoma during that whole stretch that made them even more insecure and insufferable. Outside a sliver of the Vince Young era, they were not winning conference titles so they had to scream even louder about their special status earned during the Richard Nixon era. The whole Longhorn fanbase became really boring and irksome vis a vis the Aggies, alternating between ranting endlessly about A&M while concurrently insisting we are not their rival.
Because of that, most A&M fans don't miss playing the Horns. It was a lose, lose situation. Every time we beat them just stuck a steroid shot into the insecure bawling of the fan base and if we lost we were treated to endless lectures about blue blood status and how heaven is bedecked in Burnt Orange, etc etc. Texas was the douchey s$%t talking, spoiled, trust fund dependent cousin that you were forced to sit with during family get togethers.
So LSU, enjoy your new rival. You can have them.

No rivalry here...they will go down twice and that will be that.
Aggie is no rival because 7-1 (with mostly blowouts) does not a rivalry make.

LSU fans aren’t signing up for accounts en masse on the Texas forums. We don’t even want them here.
Just admit that Aggies (and Mizzou, and Arkansas) were telling the truth about the sips.
The sips proved it with their week-long melt (and week-long pre-loss melt).
Major props to the site admins for cleaning up their nonsense last night and today.

This is true. When I was in college A&M had won 6 of the last 7 and then the series ended. It was definitely a different time for the Tigers. It was still a fun series but A&m was East Texas enough that we had some overlap with Louisiana culture. Both fan bases had a great time but it was never thought of as a rivalry.

We don't have a 37-76 all time record against them. That would be cause for some serious envy.
