I really hope he doesn't lose his starting job and try to transfer to Ole Miss for his last year of eligibility in 2027. Ole Miss would be stuck in a tough position and start him no matter how bad he sucked.

We were in that position under Kiff but that is no longer a thing. Deuce Knight is possibly better than Trinidad. He is the QB1, no question. The Mannings know this, so it would never happen.

Another loss with substandard QB play and I think Sark has to put the backup QB in.

Care to enlighten the board of this? What pedigree qbs absolutely flamed out at Texas?

If anything we have a history of missing on good qbs. Your welcome Mack told Johhny he would be a db otherwise he's a longhorn and no JFF as one example

Texss fans shite on Greg Davis but he was a very good OC who was a master at changing the offense to the talent he had available and not forcing the talent to adapt to his offense. Sark is too stubborn to do that as of now and it's hurting his team.

Who has been your best starting qb since Colt?

Probably Quinn who went to back to back final 4s.

Gilbert and snead both didn't live up but unsure the “pedigree” you are referring to

Garret Gilbert
Case McCoy
David Ash
Tyrone Swoopes
Jerrod Heard
Shane Beuchele
Sam Ehlinger
Casey Thompson
Hudson Card

Gilbert was the only 5 stars yeah not sure what the poster you originally replied to is saying about UT wasting qb talent.

Yeah OP must have a different definition of pedigree I guess. David ash might have been good had he not been hurt. Sam E was a pretty good qb and I think is still a backup in the nfl. Shane also made the NFL. Others were not 5 stars or even close

For sure, Greg Davis wasn't as bad an OC as everyone thought. His offenses were pretty simple, and worked in most games as long as the talent was there. When there was equal talent on the other side of the ball though, it was definitely a struggle for them to produce and lost a lot of those games before VY and Colt.

The biggest criticism on Greg Davis was his offenses were predictable and had no misdirection which was pretty valid. VY and Colt solved that with their off schedule QB runs.

The best OC is probably somewhere in the middle. Expecting college kids to run and execute a complicated offensive system in the transfer portal era is proving to be very difficult. Simplified yet executable might be the path of Sark could ever check his ego

Yeah, that and you better have a competent Oline coach if you are using the portal to fill gaps on the Oline every year. It's hard to get an Oline to mesh until they have had time together in the system. You need a good teacher that can get them up to speed fast and Texas doesn't have that at all. Top that with Sark not developing the QBs very well in a complicated offense and you got a recipe for disaster.
