This may be your opinion, butit does not follow the same line of thinking as the OP. LSU didn't lose to OSU in the regular. I read that as a key to the point of the OP.
Trust me, there will be many LSU fans who will not claim an AP title. I can't control what others or the school claims, though.

I'm quite sure Bama would have had a "2011 SEC West Co-champs" flag up if Arky had beat LSU, even if they didn't go to the SECCG.

Frankly I don't give a shite if they claim it or not. I want the crystal. I don't give a frick about the AP. It's just funny that they will claim the AP now after the USC fiasco.

There was no system prior to 1936. That's why those claims are bogus. You seem to have a really tough time with that concept.
And no, the Rose Bowl was not the NC game.
