UGA 100% should've been the #1 last year. They had one loss to a good team which they erased by beating the same team later. Clemson had a much worse loss, and fewer good wins in a shittier conference. Literally the only reason (IMO) that they stuck them at #2 was because Bama HAD to be #4 without even a division title, and they did not want 2 SEC teams playing each other in round 1. It minimized their risk of 2 teams from the same conference playing each other, and even when it did happen they could say "well they earned it by winning Rd 1"
I mean, everyone says the playoff was formed BECAUSE two SEC teams played in the title game. Again, if the committee was going to go by any narrative, they would have put Alabama and Georgia in the first round to guarantee that there wasn't an all-SEC title game.
Also, Georgia definitely shouldn't have 100% been number 1. Clemson was #1 in the Massey composite, and they beat NINE teams ranked in the top 40 of the composite rankings going into the playoff. Georgia beat four.
And most metrics had the ACC as a better league than the SEC last season.

How the hell is BYU at 3-1 ranked over the team that beat them (Cal at 4-0)?

No idea how Cal isn't ranked. They should have been ranked last week.

If you don't think LSU would stay within 14 of OU, you are smoking something.
2018 OU is basically 2015 A&M, but with a better coach.

Cal is ranked (22) but BYU is 20.

Okay good.
Yes still BS they are behind BYU. I believe they beat them in Provo too.

The AP pollsters showed some common sense. I'm not entirely convinced LSU is a top 5 team, but they certain deserve to jump OU.
Have we seen 3 SEC teams in the top five since 2011? I feel like somebody is going to point out one instance that should be glaringly obvious, but I'm not remembering any such case. Did it happen during the last couple weeks of the regular season/conference championships last year?

At the end of the 2012 season, there were two teams tied at 5, so technically there were 3 in the top 5.

Yep, I see it, UGA and TAMU. I should have remembered that. It's pretty rare.

The fact I forgot that one is just ridiculous. I blame a lingering hangover that has yet to respond to ibuprofen and lots of ginger ale.

Voters seized the opportunity to push Wisc (3-1) and Mich (3-1) up after VT, TCU and MS St lost. It seems arguable that 4-0 Kentucky has a better resumé than Wisc & Mich. UCF at #13 is silly. Being undefeated against their schedule isn't worthy of top 20.

Please don’t compare OU to a average school with a average team...... OU isnt losing two games and regardless of how our team played we only gave up 379 yards to a team that had the ball for 44 minutes...... Army averages 40 minutes controlling the ball and they went 11-2 last year and are better than A@M. A win is a win something you aggies will never learn being .500 . LSU certainty deserves to be above OU given the close game. We all know LSU isn’t going to be gifted any ranking they will earn it when it’s all said and done. It’s really a non topic at this point.
