Anyone else think Ohio State may have an advantage of beating the SEC Champion?

One of the reasons the best team in the SEC has been winning the Natty ever year is because their opponent isn't used to facing such tough competition as the SEC. However, with Meyer as the coach that's not exactly true. He faced SEC competition for six years and did very well winning two NCs while at Floria. Anyone here think he can prepare his team enough to beat the the SEC champion if he were to make it to the big game?

The players aren't used to the competition. The coaches aren't out there getting their asses kicked by bigger and stronger athletes.

He can prepare them all he wants but nothing can really simulate an entire game against a top tier SEC opponent

They won't be in the NCG

Good point. Florida played SEC teams all year so when they got to the natty it was smooth sailing.

No.
Not at all. OSU would get beat by 4 SEC teams.

He lost to Nick Saban with one of the best Florida teams of all time. He can hang with the best, but his last outings down south were not pretty

They have the easiest schdule in the history of football. They will be crushed.

The SEC has come a long way since Meyer almost died. I don't think OSU would win but they would be more prepared than lets say USC under Kiffin. And according to Notre Dame fans they played the toughest schedule last year in the history of life!

The SEC champion will be battle tested all season, the BIG champion just has to beat Michigan.

There's a massive disparity between the bulk of the B1G and an average SEC team. Ohio State simply won't be prepared. On any given day, sure they might win - but honestly, I think you'd see another Notre Dame style drubbing.

I don't think the coach having faced tough competition before has much to do with it. It's more the players being used to pushing around everyone, and then lining up against someone physically more talented and mentally more tough than they are, and then getting frustrated.

No. When playing a certain standard of competition all year your brain conditions itself to that standard with certain situations on the field and your body comes to expect it to be a certain way.
For example, windows that were open all year on certain passing routes you expect to continue to be there - even if they're not. Or if a running back expects to be able to get the edge because he has all year but can't against a much more athletic defense. Even a really good wide receiver who has had his way with lesser cornerbacks being unable to get as much separation and facing another that's more physical and in his face. It's a shock to the system and most of the time one game isn't enough for your brain to adjust.
It's all about mental conditioning, which is what makes the leap from college to the pros difficult. Ohio State may be every bit as talented as the SEC team they face, but because they haven't been sharpened by iron it will feel like they're running in mud. That leads to frustration.
