Absolutely love the SEC! I totally get the old guard's resistance to adding less southern teams and opining for the good ole days. It's been awesome visiting campuses and the fans have been awesome.
Mizzou fans, myself included, welcome SEC visitors with open arms to games in Columbia, Mo. I would agree our culture is more of a hybrid southern culture, but there are many similarities.
We Mizzou fans are a proud bunch and trash talk here, but come visit, and I will pour you a glass and feed you some real BBQ....

Did an aggot write this for you?
aggot literally agreed to boycott this board, all together, because they were getting picked on after showing up in this conference and running their mouths at everybody, and then falling on their faces.
Go back to bed, you're drunk.
Give the Sooner credit.
Well said

There's talk of a possible Kansas addition.

Ditto. We have been to all but 2 SEC campuses and we have been treated well at all of them. Being old and cordial probably has something to do with it.
You left out the worst campus in the Big 8-Larryville kansas. Burn that MF down!
Again…

Nobody in the SEC has fallen for more aggot drivel than Alabama. They lap it up like a kitten at a milk saucer. Everybody else in the SEC has seemed to figure out aggot over time here but them. They repeat aggot drivel chapter and verse, and now they're here trying to act like aggot's protective older brother like fools. It's like they need a little lovable loser sidekick to pal around with. I truly don't get it.
My perspective comes from reading this board's history a little since I've joined. It seems to me that Oklahoma fans here aren't really anything if not handmaidens to much more masculine and strong Texas fans who have pride in their team.
Maybe its just the Oklahoma fans on this board that seem to have neutered themselves and handed their balls to the Longhorns as a penance.
Perhaps Oklahoma fans that don't post here, just regular fans in real life, aren't simpering subservient's to Texas. I couldn't tell you about that because I'm not a part of the very unusual, and frankly creepy, Tex/Ok ecosystem.

I always thought the SEC is just the original confederacy getting the band back together for sports purposes. When the ACC finally blows up, we'll add schools from NC and (maybe) VA. Of course Oklahoma was Indian territory at the time, so maybe we added them in lieu of anybody from Virginia.

Oklahoma has long since tied their wagon to Texas. Their school and state contributes absolutely nothing culturally and have very little political gravity. If they didn't, they would have ended up like Nebraska.
They have done this to great success and its basically worked out for them. Even able to divorce itself from Oklahoma State. Don't get me wrong, they often field great football teams, but bigger picture...meh.

OU is, in fact, the sips ride along cheerleader. You had a chance to come to the SEC without them and stayed in the Big 12 instead. You finally came when the sips told you it was okay. OU brings no TV market, far less population than the Houston metro area, zero academic prestige. OU adds a little ancillary income to the conference in bowl payouts but I'll bet OU adds nothing at all to the per-school payout of the conference. Basically, OU is Arky with a better win/loss record.
