In spite of A & M’s lack or success over the years the Aggies have the following which makes them a good SEC fit and one that Gameday wants to be part of.
• National TV Appeal
• The State of Texas and a lot of college football fans
• Tradition
• A Passionate and knowledgeable Fan base
• A coveted program that brings SEC passion deep into the heart of Texas.
Missouri has had even less success than A & M and nobody really cares to watch the Tigers including their own "Fans".
• No National TV Appeal
• Little appeal to the fans even in the state of Missouri (KC has as many if not more Kansas and Kansas State Fans than they do Missouri and there are more Illinois Fans in St. Louis than there are Tiger Fans.
• Have no tradition whatsoever
• A weak and ignorant fan base.
• Are not a coveted program and are more Big 10ish or Missouri Valleyish than they are SEC worthy. Missouri was an afterthought that the SEC settled on and they will be treated as such.
Holy Troll Batman you don't know Jackshit, damn I almost bit and had a rant back.

Don't fool yourself, yes the tv deal makes alot of sense and is a point but it's not the only point. To say that recruiting had little to do with A&M joining the SEC is questionable. Hmm, could have went after Florida State, but went with A&M instead?
I would agree the TV markets may have been a principle reason because of revenue, but the recruiting is also some of the reason. Why do you think Mizzou wanted to keep the Aggies as a rival?

I read 4 pages of this thread and I think the real reason is that Gameday likes to go to places it hasn't been recently. When is the last time Gameday went to TAMU?

I think a lot of it has to do with A&M winning the contest for the commercial, the atmosphere (weird or not) at A&M, the size of the schools and viewership ( TV markets here are huge), and the fact that A&M coming to the SEC is simply historical with the split from all the instate schools. A&M made a lot of enemies in Texas with its move last year. Add a completely new offensive-based coach to the mix, and there you go.
I don't think it is the better game, but the atmosphere will be insane.

This is definitely not the reason simply because Gameday has chosen Army/Navy and some Ivy League games to be at over much better match ups before.
There are some good storylines though and maybe that's another reason.
I didn't know Gameday was holding contests now to choose where it goes.
