The better question is do we want Kirby staying through the playoffs? There is no way he will be able to have his full focus on preparing for two playoff games when a job like UGA is waiting on him. UGA is not Houston or Colorado State.

J-Mac was CSU's coach and split duties by recruiting for CSU and coaching our offense to another natty so I'd think Kirby is inclined to do the same. Nothing better as a recruiting tool to have another title on your resume.

Word is he's gone after seccg. Supposedly taking Cochran and Napier as OC with him.

UGA and Smart will want him working right away. Saban will probably tell him to do so right after the SEC championship. Too much recruiting and things to set up to sit around in another team's office for a month, as much as it kinda sucks as a fan in the middle of a title run.

Herman having a ring helped Houston more than anything, they could afford to wait.
Smart staying doesn't give UGA the same luxury, they need someone to right the ship now and stabilize recruiting.

Pelini stayed on for the NC in 2007 before going to Nebraska.
