Arrested for carrying a weapon on a parade route.

He has been charged. Will likely be a misdemeanor, when it is all said and done.

It is his legal weapon, and was not used in the commission of a crime (well. . .except for being on a parade route)

If it were in season I’d expect he’d be suspended for the rest of the season at minimum. If he handles everything properly there’s definitely a path for him to stay on the team.

Nothing to see there. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Meanwhile his poor buddy Darius Miles might actually hang.

Yeah it sounds like Miles is the one getting left out to dry in all of this. Even the shooter might get a plea deal for testifying against Miles. How else would they have the comments from Miles about the gun being loaded and one in the chamber if not from the shooter?

But if you think about it, how is what Miles did all that different from what Miller did? Miller drove the gun to the scene upon request and Miles walked over and handed it to the shooter. What's the major distinction unless I'm missing something? One guy transported a murder weapon with a car and the other guy used his Nikes.

I think Miles lost the race to the plea bargain table and will be the odd man out when the dust settles. 6th man indeed.

Possibly Miller’s dash cam, if it recorded audio too.

The slang referenced is pretty specific, so I’m leaning toward this.

He was on Bourbon St. with a gun in his pocket on Lundi Gras. Officer asked him if he had a permit, he admitted he did not, so he was arrested. I know they have all those walking "parades" but not sure if there was one that night. He wasn't on any traditional parade route that I'm aware of. It's a misdemeanor charge.

After Miles and Davis are guilty, Miller caused a murder and 2 other deaths because he brought the gun.

The "no carry on parade route" extends to Bourbon

If the official text from Miles to Miller is the only info Miller received and the blocking thing was due to the size of the road and not deliberate, then I understand him being on the team

If he knew anything else or participated in the altercation upon arrival (by blocking or otherwise) he should have been punished

I think this is reasonable in a sense

But I think what's in the text to Miller shows Miller exercised extremely bad judgment at minimum and is probably worthy of some level of disciplinary response.

I'm not convinced based on what we know that Miller shouldn't be allowed to play CBB again or have his NBA future derailed or whatever. But from UA's standpoint, I think you have to make it clear that you can't be within 100 miles of a situation like this and continue to represent the school.

I don't think it will have any effect on the a$$whippings that are gonna happen during the rest of the regular season or SEC tournament. Now maybe during the NCAA tourny it would be felt but it's too late to stop Bama from winning the SEC.

As a Bama alum I think he should be thrown off the team and scholarships reduced by a third in all men's sports for 5 years. I say that strictly as a Bama alum.
