yea two great additions. There is a reason the following schools wanted the SD transfer.
Bama, AZ, Clemson, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Okalahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech.
But Hey, a guy on a message board knows way more than those coaches.

So you think those schools wouldn’t want him if they thought he was a 10ppg guy?
Idiot.

Idiot.

But when you get a guy from a program like this you can expect their production to be cut in half or by 2/3rds when making the jump. This guy will be a role player.
Depends heavily on the player and his style of play there champ. It's a lot more nuanced to understand how a player would play across conference than oh he's a mid major cut his points in half and you get thst many next year.

You seem to be the only one thinking that is all he will be.
I wouldnt expect a TN or Stanford fan to know basketball though.
No big deal.

Id be interested to see the last guy who averaged 20ppg come close to that production after transferring to a big program. They can still be an effective player but they won’t be the guy the offense revolves around like they were so it’s almost always a big drop off for guys who dominated like that at smaller schools.
Maybe if they transferred into a trash P6 program they could still be “the guy”.

One of my first searches was Carlik Jones
Averaged 20 at Radford and 17 at Louisville

His efficiency still went down by quite a bit. Took more shots. A guy like him is usually the exception from what I’ve seen.

Carlik Jones averaged 20PPG at Radford before transferring to Louisville and leading them in scoring at 17PPG, made the all-ACC first team, and won newcomer of the year.
Not terrible for a role player.

Liam Robbins went from Drake to Minnesota and had almost identical production and usage
Trey Murphy was better across the board at UVA compared to Rice
I think it just depends on the player, the system and what his role was at the old school. Best coaches know that and know how to identify guys who will thrive, other coaches just bring in guys who lit up bad leagues with no transferable skills to hi-major ball.
Muss has pretty clearly earned the benefit of the doubt there.

Sorry, it's hard to keep up with the moving goalposts in this thread.

Now i’d be interested to see what % of guys scoring 20+ ppg that transferred keep at least 85% of their production. Jones is lower than that if you factor in his fg% dropping by quite a bit.

He's a troll, ignore this goob. Hogs got a good one

Best example of a guy who was "highly rated" in the transfer market and went to a weird fit and didn't even get on the floor is that kid from Rider that went to Ole Miss. He was a top 3 transfer by almost everyone, barely even played and is now transferring again.

That one was a scouting miss. Guy is a 7’ stud.

Agreed. He will be a solid player. He just won’t average 15ppg.

He's in the portal again, too

Noah Gurley (Furman) will be committing to Alabama on Sunday. This one excites me. He fits our scheme perfectly and can both play inside and stretch the floor with his 3 ball. We had zero centers in 2020, but we'll have two in 2021. One inside big man that can run, and another do it all type with range. This team is going to be good come March of 2021.

Sure but players towards the top of the portal that are mid-major normally are

Tennessee backed off Gurley for whatever reason and we have no bigs.
