So you are telling me basically that the entire 2 deep from last year's OU oline is gone? I didn't realize things were that bad. Vols are about to do some work.

IN before somebody suggests that these are "made up quotes" and that they don't believe that a real coach said this.
Reporters develop working relationships with coaches all the time, and the coaches say all sorts of shite off the record. Sometimes, the reporter will call in a favor and ask "can I quote you on that but not identify you directly."

You didn't answer my questions.
Why didn't your vaunted Dline destroy that terrible Bama oline last year? You got your asses kicked and McLellan ran for 115
Midzou ran for 255
Georga torched you through the air.
Etienne ran for 172
Where was your elite Dline and Oline in those games?
Answer the question.

Because our secondary was full of scrubs from the Pruitt era still. Our secondary is very young and talented and will probably go through many growing pains early on but should be good towards latter part of the year. Got some help in the portal as well there.
That's been the biggest weak link under Heupel and Banks, besides one year of Joe Milton ofcourse.
Anything in the secondary is an upgrade by default though and Heupel has brought in some exciting young talent there. Hadden is the only big loss back there and our dline is good enough to bail them out and make them look better than they are early on until they get it together back there.

This isn't accurate in any way, but go with it.

Why do you sound like an 11 year old?
OU's OL portal pickups:
Michael Tarquin
- 6'6", 317
- RSS
- started 8 games last year for USC
Geirean Hatchett
- 6'5", 312
- RSS
- 4 starts for Washington, missed a few games due to injury, played in PAC12 CCG & both CFP games
Spencer Brown
- 6'6", 321
- RSS
- Started 11 games last year for Mich. State
Branson Hickman
- 6'2", 301
- RSS
- 33 consecutive starts at SMU
Febechi Nwaiwu
- RSJ
- 6'4", 339
- 7 starts last year for UNT (where our new OC came from)
It may seem patchwork, but we haven't had a group with this much experience in a long time. We will be fine at OL.

You are saying i sound like an 11 year old yet you are listing guys from the portal as if they are going to magically gel together in time for the Tennessee game. It will take them at least half a season to get on the same page probably more. I'll gladly take our young secondary problem over your oline problem any day of the week.

Hey did you hear we lost our entire 2 deep on the Oline?
That's a new one!

Close enough lmao.
I was replying to a Texas fan saying your line is decimated.

We only lost Savion Byrd from the 2 deep on the Oline because he doesn't think he needs to get bigger than 289lbs to play guard.
texsa fans rely on fake narratives regarding OU. You should never listen to anything they say. Their program pundits (like Ketchum/Boyd), like aggie (Luicci), are just low-rent scam artists who charge them $11.99/month to sell them fake narratives they want to hear.

Yes Tennessee does not even need to have a game plan for Oklahoma, just practice for your tough opponents. Tennessee can just show up, roll out the ball, and coast……..

Nico showed against top 5 Iowa's defense that even if everything is covered in the red zone, he's still plenty good enough to improvise and create his own TDs with elite pocket awareness and a natural playmaking ability.
I didn't watch this game but you keep bragging about it so I went and looked at the stats.
He scored four touchdowns but was rather pedestrian in doing so.
12/19 151 yards
15 carries for 27 yards
He touched the ball 34 times and only produced 178 yards of offense
From the stat line, your backs did the heavy lifting and Nico scored all the touchdowns.

And they ran the ball 54 times vs. 19 passing attempts to protect lil Nico. They kept him on a leash.

You seem willfully ignorant that tennersee is replacing its entire secondary and lost 10 DBs in the off-season. And you just lost your returning nickel for the season to injury. Oklahoma finished 2nd in the nation in INTs last year, they're all returning, and lil inexperienced Nico will be having to throw into that veteran secondary all game long.....on the road......against a team that isn't Iowa. Additionally, where was tennersee's vaunted Oline and Dline last year against any team with a pulse?

A team that you are ranked lower in the polls and a team that you're significantly worse in the trenches against. Now OU is better at LB and DB but to say you aren't worried is foolish IMO. I think it will be a very good game.

Replacing an entire secondary isn't any better than replacing an entire Oline.
They have to come together as a unit too, especially in terms of being where they need to be in certain coverages, coverage responsibilities pre-snap especially with motion, communicating on the back-end so there are no busts, handing off coverage in zone to the next guy etc.,
I don't see where that's a more favorable situation. They're about the same in terms of the hazard they introduce to a team. There are adjustments you can make to your gameplan to account for Oline disadvantages (quick passing game, splits, max-protect etc).
What adjustments can you make for a secondary?

A dline that doesn't give Jackson Arnold a second to throw can definitely make up for a bad secondary. FYI I'm not talking trash in any sense either because I've always been the first one to say our secondary is very suspect I think it will be a very good game.

Did you read the rest of my post?
A Dline's advantage can be taken way in several ways. Math is math. I've watched it for a couple of decades in the BIG XII.

Bama only ran for 138 yards, despite having a RB at QB and much more importantly our 3 and out machine Milton on offense keeping our D on the field all the time.
When your offense keeps turning it over and flipping the field, a team as talented as Bama is going to get their yards passing and on the ground eventually. Defense gassed out quickly under Milton because he couldn't consistently move the chains so they get recycled right back in after 3 & outs.
I wouldn't judge us based on last year besides maybe individual players ofcourse. Anyone who watched us play last year knows that there was one major problem holding us back: Joe Milton

I'll say this our secondary will have to be better than last year for sure. We were 64th in yards allowed and that won't get us in the cfp. I do like our matchups in the trenches and I do think it will be a good game. If Jackson Arnold is given a long time to throw then OU will put up a lot of points for sure.
