You're confusing the right to do or say things without criticism with the right to do or say things.

If a white person uses the N word it doesn't matter the context in which he uses the word. There will be negative issues following behind it. So when people say it wasn't in a negative context that's bullshite. Because the word should be held across all races as being negative. And no one should use it

I think it's obvious that blacks do not get equal treatment under the law.

Now what?
So what is your proposed answer? Do we need to start with the n-word and work our way up?

Context is the linchpin of language. There are contexts when it is not offensive to some. Same with some other words

Disagree with ya on this one Tbird. That word should be offensive no matter what the context. You know the history of that word and what it represents.

You can say it till you're blue in the face, but that won't change the fact that it simply does not offend in certain contexts.

I'm also intelligent enough to ascertain when it's being used as a pejorative and when it is not. Language is not (pardon the pun) black and white, as convenient as that would be.

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree, though

Everyone is so uptight anymore. To quote Carlin, there are no bad words. Bad thoughts, bad intentions, and woooords.

This I do not agree with. Slur aside, there was no call for that outburst on a podium in front of a roomful of people. Not losing with grace at all.

For shame, Calipari.

An you're confusing my initial point about minorities being able to be oppressive against a majority. The media, liberals, and the Gay/Lesbian are all minorities as a whole and they do oppress Christians.

There is 1 common ideology echoed throughout this thread, and that is that the N word is offensive. No matter your age, sex, education level, background, social standing, tax bracket, or the color of your skin we can all agree it's offensive. I don't know why we focus on the how or why as much as the fact that it's just wrong to use in a public narrative. I don't know why people are arguing about this. Its a punishable offense

I will say this, you have some interesting viewpoints. I think you're the first person I've seen argue that Christians AND black people in Missouri were oppressed. At least you don't stick to one side of the aisle.

I disagree with this.

As a Christian, I don't feel oppressed at all, tbh

I feel those groups' respective agendas are pushed more than they should be, but oppressed? Nah.

Can you just imagine the uproar if the exact same words were uttered by Kaminski regarding Harrison though?

The double standards are what piss me off.

Is there an example of oppression?
