The point I'm making is there are examples where the minority can be and is oppressive over the majority.
Can you show one then, besides "ruling Christian majority passes law allowing discrimination based on ruling majority religion"?

Why? Because the PC media hasn't addressed black people using that word yet?
And they won't. This country is so riddled with white guilt and liberal limp wrist syndrome they are scared to death to go after anything black people do.

[quote]You want to go around screaming ni**** and "I hate black people"? You seem awfully upset about not being able to do these things.

We will never create change until all society comes down hard on this. It is a double standard for Harrison to say it without any consequences. I understand where it originated in black subculture but it is played out today. I've found certain inner cities to use the N word a lot among it's black youth. It's very prevalent here in Houston in football, basketball, playgrounds, etc. I know several guys at my YMCA that use the word in most sentences as they refer to black, white, hispanic peiple. They don't even realize how awful they sound And the say it in front of anyone. I've had to pull them aside 1 on 1 to challenge them. They always are apologetic and say they don't mean any harm as it's their term of endearment. They do not have racist intent but it is still disrespectful. Until we make examples of people like Harrison (by way of his pocketbook) these kids will keep on being ignorant.

Sure...how about Ferguson.

It's not as if white people can't say ****. Eminem used it. Louis CK uses it in his act all the time. Nobody gets arrested for using the word ****.

Really mind blogging how posters on here don't see the differences in the AH situation and the OU boys thing. Total different situations and the OU boys deserved to be put out

Except I didn't say anything in your post after your "basically." You basically wrongly inferred every single point after.

I do agree with this. They really aren't comparable.

And nobody should, but have enough sense and dignity not to use the word regardless of context.

Christians are being bullied and oppressed for their beliefs. I offer you the state of Indiana as a prime and recent example.
How so? When was the last time you saw a Christian being refused service because of their religious preference?
Not allowing people to discriminate because they think God told them to =\= oppression. Sorry

Ok. How about the Eric Gardner situation?

I'm not sure black people were oppressed in the Ferguson situation. They were allowed to protest as they saw fit and arrested when they got out of hand. Of course, I do believe there was an extensive amount of force used by the minority police and had a hearty laugh when the police came out in Middle Eastern fatigues. Guess you have to blend in with those sandy surroundings in the midwest.

So if we don't have "real equality" then what do we have? You said that we don't have real equality so I am left to assume that we aren't equals
Posted on 4/5/15 at 2:19 pm to MontyFranklyn
Real equality is equal treatment in society for the same actions. Do you think we have that?

If you can't see the bullying and straight out attacks by the mainstream media and liberals, then you support these tactics, blind, or both.

Context is the linchpin of language. There are contexts when it is not offensive to some. Same with some other words.
Harrison's choice to use it in that context and in that forum was reprehensible and stupid, and should be met with negative repercussions.

quote:I think you are trying to condense a meaning down for a singular purpose. We don't have real inequality in that sense, but that is a can of worms I am sure you don't want to open. You'd like to just keep aimed towards the n-word, when in fact the true inequality for actions can be seen in the justice system.
Real equality is equal treatment in society for the same actions.

I think you're stuck thinking of me in the box you think I fit.
I think it's obvious that blacks do not get equal treatment under the law.
Now what?
