I agree with that, but he had implied that Utah and Boise state should have made it in over a 1 loss SEC champion in 2006 and 2008 so I went and compared that with the 2017 UGA team.

Sure... it just is an invalid comparison... We wouldn't have been the team on the chopping block.

As I said, I wouldn't have made the claim there... just pointing out it's a little silly to try and make the comparison that you did...

Explain how the 2008 UF team was lucky. Tell me who should have gone to championship game instead of UF especially coming off the SEC championship in which we beat #1 Bama.

There must be of shite ton of "lucky" teams because there are a lot of 1 loss national champions.

Of course it's silly, it's silly to think two group of 5 teams should have made it in over a 1 loss SEC champion.

Because there werent 2 undefeated teams ahead of you, and yall had zero control over what happened elsewhere in the nation.

Exactly. Looking like you understand it now. When you have to depend on help to win it, and you get the help you need, you were lucky.

It was a BCS league, but come on. It was way, way, way behind the other BCS leagues. The only other team worth a shite in the Big East that year was Pitt, and they took Cincinnati to the wire. That game ended 45-44 (one of the wildest CFB games I have ever seen, by the way). Cincinnati was solid that year but everyone knew that Sugar Bowl was a gross mismatch.

It was way behind that season but that wasn't always the case with the Big East. Sugar Bowl was a blowout because Brian Kelly left them without telling (they found out watching Sportscenter).

Penn State, Michigan and Notre Dame immediately come to mind.

Since Pete Carroll left in 2009, USC.
Since Saban broke them in 2009, Texas and Florida.
Since Butch Davis' players left in 2003, Miami.

Plus, it doesn’t help that Smart may have met his match in Mullen, who turned UF’s program around in one season and is starting to challenge Smart’s superiority on the recruiting trail.

Within two days, Florida’s best recruit since 2016 who happened to be on campus for all of 3 months enters the portal.

And, Georgia announces another 5 star commit on the same day (which is now one more than Florida has on their entire roster).

Clown show.

They lost to Ole Miss, and needed luck to slide into the top 2.

I know we're Georgia fans, but come on man. They lost by 1 to Ole Miss and ran a fricking train on everyone after that. They would have been in the BCSCG in almost every season of the BCS. The BCS existed from 1998-2013. IIRC, only 1999, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2009, and 2010 seasons saw undefeated vs undefeated in the title game.

Once you lose, luck is a necessity. UF needed the following things out of their control to happen:

- Texas Tech to hit a last second TD pass to beat undefeated Texas
- Iowa to hit a last second FG to beat undefeated Penn St
- Oregon St to upset undefeated USC
- OU beating undefeated Texas Tech

Point is, an undefeated Big 10, Big 12, or Pac 12 champ goes in over a 1 loss UF who "ran a train after their loss."

Normally you do a better job of making your point... you're referencing an undefeated champ from 3 conferences, yet every one of your bullets is referencing a 1 loss team from said conference taking a second loss unless I'm missing something.

My bad for the confusion. Each team that lost was undefeated at the time of the game. Let me correct it.

How would you describe that play?

I'd say we scored a touchdown.

It went pretty much like this:

Buck back, 3rd down on the 8...In trouble...he got a block behind him. Gotta throw on the run...complete to the 25..to the 30, Lindsay Scott. 35-40, Lindsay Scott! 45, 50, 45, 40...Run, Lindsay! 25, 20, 15, 10, 5, Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott!!!!

Pretty much describes it.

All kidding aside, though, it was just a simple little pass play designed to get a first down. The Gator defender slipped down while trying to get to Scott, and he was off to the races. Wasn't really even a busted coverage. The DB just slipped down and Scott was gone.

This thread was a sad attempt to troll UGA and Florida started imploding within 2 hours of its posting. Ha.
