There is the occasional jackass, of course. But if you are cool to people and respectful, in almost all cases, you can expect people to be cool and respectful to you. It ain't rocket surgery.
What is rocket surgery?

I have been to Florida on 2004 and 2006. Had a great time both times. 2004 was a little better only because LSU won the game.
I have also been to Ol Miss three times. In 2003 Ol Miss fans were shitty. They had a better than average team and that went to thier heads. Ol Miss fan were trying to pick fights with all LSU fans. However, in 2005 and 2007 they knew thier place and kept thier mouths shut.

How is it a funny concept Florida fans discussing road experiences?

Question...What Solar System are you from?
Going to Death Valley on Saturday Night is a sight to behold!
Grade D? No Grade AAA if you can take the pressure and enjoy it.
There is no staduim in America BETTER to have fun on a Saturday Night then watching 90000 plus Cajuns Drunk and flaming their opponents.
Granny used to say "If you can't take the heat...Stay out of the kitchen!"
You tell 'em Granny!!

You can tell from the responses you are getting what to expect. My last game at tiger stadium I saw about a 70 year old UA fan get a big gulp dumped on his head on the way in by a drunk LSU fan. Florida and LSU are both the least southern of the SEC schools in that Florida is full of yankees and Louisiana is a cultural island to itself.
That old fart is just lucky it wasn't a piss bomb.....

No. 1 Worst Fans = Ole Miss
Auburn is a pretty fun place. I had a great time until a guy in a bar grabbed my girlfriend and shook her after she cheered for the Tigers when we won.
Several Auburn fans tried to fight me but an Alabama fan came up and told me he had my back. THen and Auburn fan walked up and apologized for his ignorant fellow war eagles.
Point being you can go to any place in the SEC and experience great fans and shitty fans. But the one place i've never been treated well: Oxford.

Like someone said, if you really want to know how good/bad your own fans can be, wear an opposing team's t-shirt to one of your home games and walk around for a few hours and see what happens. This goes for LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Tenn, Alabama, Ole Miss.
Oh, and don't wear the opposing shirt, say, when Ball St. comes to town. Wear the shirt when a hated SEC rival comes to town.
Just try it. Live a little. Experiment. Even cheer for the opposing team and see what happens.

Compared to UGA, Ole Miss, UA and Auburn. Just saying LSU has its own thing. Maybe I should have said southern with hot sauce or something like that.

I heard from someone I work with, from Arkansas, say "Louisiana isn't really part of the south".

An honest question by a flamer whose name is LSUisGatorBait.
You're lucky you don't get your arse kicked with that attitude.

I've been to Athens twice, Nashville once and now Knoxville once as an opposing fan, wearing colors each time. I've also been to the SECCG three times and the Peach/Chicken Bowl 4 times as an Auburn fan and twice more when AU wasn't there.
The first time I was in Athens was 1993, had a wonderful time, didn't get bothered at all. Second time was in 2001 and was sitting just a few sections to the left of the UGA student section. I had a couple of idiots there, but nothing really bad.
Nashville last year, no real bad experiences, just people yelling out the car windows driving down Broadway after the game.
Knoxville Saturday night, I was two rows above the student section. Never had a bad word or an insult directed at me. Once at Vol Walk and once inside the stadium I got the "How many mascots do y'all have? Can you make up your mind?" but it was all in good fun, and it was returned in a manner just the same ("Well, the tiger is the real mascot, but they won't let us east Alabama renecks turn a live tiger loose before a game so we have to have an eagle for that").
Honestly the worst fan experience I ever had was at the 1997 SECCG. Auburn was leading, late in the 3rd quarter. I was standing up cheering, yelling (not saying anything bad, just pulling for AU) when a UT fan leans across my mother and threatens to shove my shaker up my arse if I don't "stop shaking that thing in his face."
For the IB every other year we have Bama fans in front of us, and we have UGA fans around us when they come down, and things are typically very calm and even tempered. Most of the time the idiots are the ones who are drunk, or who think they have to be assholes to prove they are real fans (and most of the time a combination of both).
I want to see a game in BR and in the Swamp, but when I go I may see if I can find a game that isn't against AU and just go experience the atmosphere as opposed to making myself a target for idiots.

Well, in a sense, New Orleans is not.
Neither is the Cajun country.
They are their own unique cultural entities and while there may be Southern aspects to them, they are very different in lots of ways from north Louisiana or the rest of the South--and most of those differences are good differences, in my opinion, I might add, before you become defensive.....

I think everybody gets It. Good and Bad in every fan base.
Years ago Went to The Iron Bowl Bama won. Walking to the Parking lot an Aubie tried to grab my Hat cussing etc. His Sober wife restrained him. I let it go because all Aubies don't act like this.
I went to an Ole Miss-Bama game and Bama lost in Mississippi. Driving out of the parking lot a car of Ole Miss fans started honking at us when they saw our Alabama License tag and started gently bumping our rear bumper. I let it go although I got fired up after the 4th bump. Then I noticed Mississippi Highway Patrol pulling over Alabama Cars left and right.
This happens at every Fan Base I'm sure.
Politest Fans? Penn State...

AND.... (as from another thread)
no one ever says:
"I was at the <opposing team> game and was being a real a-hole to all the <opposing team> fans and then got treated badly."

When I went to Tuscaloosa in 2007 I was greeted nicely by almost everyone, I had a great trip up there and I'm hoping to make it over there again. Only problem I had there was the occasional frat boy screaming bull shite at me from the front lawn, but other than that I had fun and met a lot of fun people.

I think it also depends on the relationship between the two schools. Games like Auburn/Kentucky, Bama/USCe, Miss St/Vandy will probably have calmer fan relations than the IB, Ole Miss/LSU, Tenn/Fla, etc.
My gf said the one time she went to Athens was when the Vols played there a few years back and she was called "dirty Tennessee whore" and such. Uncalled for, but when you know the history and the rivalry there, certainly not surprising.
