Probably because they are used as a political football taking things beyond equal treatment.
Personally, I don't give a shite if someone is gay or whatever. It's none of my business, don't care if they get married or whatever.
But that's not enough apparently. I guess in order to respect this persons freedoms, I have to ignore and suppress the freedoms of others. And frick that, not going to happen.
If someone wants to call gay people figs, that's their right as an American. If someone wants to refuse to bake a cake for them, that is their right and that is freedom.
Btw, on that cake bake thing. Those people went around to every single baker trying to make that order, and they didn't stop until they found someone to refuse it. These people didn't give a shite about freedoms of others, or even their own freedom in the end.
And yet it's extremely rare that I see a gay person speak up about it. It does happen, and it's awesome to see when it does, but most of the time people would rather play the victim and blame everyone else for their short comings.
So frick em. When they start supporting the freedoms and rights of others, let me know.

Speaking of an agenda, this post is quite ironic. It's a perfect example of people believing what they want to believe. Any point of view that "confirms" their already existing bias.
