This is why we often get these comments about the smell of the city and the horrible crime rate.

No you get those comments because the quarter smells and the city is more dangerous than Baghdad.

That being said it's still a national treasure, but pointing out a few faults in an otherwise great place doesn't make you a hater imho.

New Orleans is one of the three or four great cities in America

I think you actually believe that.

I can smell jealousy like a tourist can smell the piss and alcohol soaked streets of N.O.

I must be lucky, I grew up there and have had family in N.O. since the mid-1800's and have never had a friend or family member murdered. If you don't get involved in the drug/gang culture in N.O. your chances of being murdered are very slim.

I used the word jealous ,and as I stated, the smell is palpable.

Well at least we agree on the smell. And please spare me the song and dance about jealousy. I live 3 hrs down the interstate and get all the benefits of being close enough to visit without actually having to live in it.

So you want yout team to waste draft picks and continuously finish in the middle of the worst division in the NFL?

You probably don't have the chest to live in N.O.
Thanks for visiting though.

I know this thread is supposed to be about New Orleans and what Amari said about the city. However, I continue to see numerous posts from LSU fans about the state of Alabama and how they assume everyone in the state lives in a trailer. Below is a link to the US Census from 2008 regarding the share of housing in each state that are mobile homes:

LINK

As you'll see, LSU fans are correct in assuming that there are more mobile homes in Alabama than in Louisiana. In 2008, 14.3% of all housing in the state were mobile homes. Alabama ranked 4th nationally in share. However, the state of Louisiana wasn't far behind at 13.4% of all homes in the state being mobile homes. Louisiana ranked 8th nationally. So, the share of mobile homes between Alabama and Louisiana is only separated by 0.9%.

With all that said, LSU fans, drop it with the trailer comments. Your wonderful state isn't far behind. If you were Georgia or Florida, then you may have a point, but the fact is, you don't.

Don't get too upset, consider the sources commenting about a city they barely know. Of course the height of culture in Alabama is horrific racism and crystal meth. Their burgeoning economy are foreign car plants. I'm not stereotyping am I? Unfortunately I deal with Alabama more than I would like and I don't think I'm that far off. Wanna have fun? Drive through Alabama and check out the "sights". And there's no crime in Birmingham right?

I always thought that was a funny quote even if I don't really agree with it.

New Orleans is full of dope head junkies asking me for money on my way to work who smell almost as bad as the streets they sleep on.

You shouldn't have to share your "tip" money from carrying luggage with those who are homeless.

Just tell them "rahwwwlll taaaaahhhhd" and they will realize you are an uneducated sidewalk Bama fan and leave you alone.

Bama fans all over New Orleans. It is becoming a popular hat choice among the local culture.

Certainly, the quotation from a drug-addled playwright that choked to death on a bottle cap is one we should put a lot of weight in.

He's right. New Orleans isn't that great of a place to be. He didn't mean any offense by it, he was just being honest.
