If you had to make a 25-man roster of nothing but former SEC players (not counting guys that started out at an SEC school but transferred----like Jason Kipnis started at Kentucky but finished at Arizona State)...how would it go?

I used the following conditions:

1) Had to have at least ONE representative from every current SEC school (even if the TAMU & MIZZ guys didn't actually play in the SEC at the time)

2) Players have to have appeared in a MLB game this year, i.e. no putting Dansby Swanson, Alex Bregman, Todd Helton on the roster.

Note: basically for this year only---not building a "dynasty"

(Pitching staff would be off the charts...especially when factoring in who didn't make the 12-man roster. Huge hole in CF, though.

DJ Lemahieu started the all-star game at 2B. He's batting like .315 right now and won a gold glove last year. Mikie Mahtook is not even on the 25 man roster for Tampa Bay. I'd also argue Nola being on there but understand he just made his debut this week.

LeMahieu plays in Colorado which skews his offensive numbers greatly. I'll take Logan Forsythe.

I mainly included Mahtook b/c you need a reserve OF that can play CF...I used him instead of others (Jackie Bradley, Jr, Alex Presley, etc) b/c he at least has power.

Yeah Wacha should be in the rotation over Lynn...not sure what I was thinking there.

I'd probably have DJ LeMahieu at 2B: Gold Glove Winner and All-Star;
AVG .313
HR 4
RBI 37
OBP .368

Also, Will Harris is have a pretty darn good season as a reliever for Houston.
ERA 0.83
SO 42
WHIP 0.74

Theoretically you could have one of them be the best long man/swing man in baseball or have a 6 man rotation if you have that caliber of arms, because that's pretty ridiculous

I almost used Harris instead of Papelbon b/c Papelbon is a douche but didn't.

I like LeMahieu but Forsythe is having a better season and he doesn't play in Colorado and the writers that vote on Gold Gloves are mostly idiots.

No doubt...I only used Joe Blanton b/c I had to include someone from Kentucky to fit my given conditions.

I guess you could swap Collin Cowgill for Mikie Mahtook and replace Blanton with a better pitcher.

Not true. He hits 90% singles. The Colorado air doesn't affect ground balls.

There's also this: Since the Humidor room has been put into use at Coors Field, Team batting averages have dropped 8-10% and HRs have dropped 20-25% yearly.

except he's not having a better season, and Lemahieu absolutely deserved the gold glove. he won the gold glove over 4 tyime gold glove winner Brandon Phillips. You are basically blinded because Lemahieu isn't a power hitter. So honestly, the fact that he plays in Colorado is irrelevant. He was selected as an all star for a reason, and it isn't because he's a big name that's get voted in every year regardless of the season he's having

D.J. LeMahieu's career splits:

LeMahieu undoubtedly at 2b. Your excuse about Colorado doesn't apply here. Dude has like 4 bombs, but he's a baller and a great contact hitter and he's filthy in the field.

My list isn't perfect. Mainly generating discussion. Geezus you people are sensitive.

Will Harris is having a great season, but he's 30 years-old and RP's have volatile numbers from year to year due to how few innings they pitch.

Most normal people would find it ABSURD to include a guy like Will Harris over Jonathan Papelbon.

Solid list, but I would add Ian Kinsler at 2nd.

and that's what you're getting. it's not as if your list is without error or personal bias

OK...

LeMahieu's 2015 splits:

Home: .348/.408/.461
Away: .274/.321/.338

The dude is good don't get me wrong, and he was a big part of LSU's 2009 National Title team,

But it's not like Logan Forsythe sucks. I didn't start Cliff Pennington, Josh Rutledge, or Augie Ojeda over D.J.
