Speaking of Mark Richt, he went 13-1 in his second season at Georgia. He won the SEC and won the Sugar Bowl. In only his second year as a head coach he accomplished more, a conference title and a NY6 bowl win, than Brian Kelly has in 35 years as a head coach

Orgeron > Richt, by your "logic."

So you think Orgeron>Richt>Kelly? Is that what you are saying?

I would flip the first two and go, Richt>Orgeron>Kelly

I know that 99% of LSU fans would gladly take 2019-2021 over 2022-2024.

That's your logic, not mine.

I'd say currently, probably Richt>Kelly>Orgeron.

Number of division, conference, BCS, CFP, NY6 wins.

Richt: 7 division, 2 conference, 4 NY6 = 13

Orgeron: 1 division, 1 conference, 2 CFP, 1 NY6 = 5

Kelly: 2 division: 2

So you value a divisional championship the same as a national championship?

I'm beginning to see why you folks have some of the takes that you do.

No, but I value it a whole lot more than a regular season win against Nicholls State. I value a division title more than any regular season game, especially against unranked teams. Earlier you implied that accomplishments didn’t matter as much as winning percentage. What changed?

By the way, the 29-11/.725 winning percentage that you trumpet as proof of Kelly’s excellence was largely achieved by beating unranked teams LSU should be expected to win.

In his 3 seasons at LSU, Kelly is 4-8 against top 25 ranked teams.

I value accomplishments to a certain degree, but I also try to look at them with some nuance.

As stated, I don't believe Orgeron is a better coach than Richt simply because he won a championship.

I also don't believe Freeman is a better coach than Kelly simply because he beat a 2 loss team in the CFP semifinals while Kelly faced two all time great squads with no losses.

That may be true, but it's still second in the conference. Thus, it would seem there's a lot of coaches not beating those teams.

Your coach for instance, lost 3 games to unranked teams that Alabama was expected to beat.

Everyone knew the winner of OSU and Texas are the national champs. Still doesn’t take away the fact that freeman is better than Kelly. Irish are better off

Is that a fact or an opinion?

Considering one is playing for national championship and one couldn’t do it with a heisman QB, I’d say it’s fact

Odds are better than if Brian kelly were their head coach. Odds wouldn't exist

Sideautist is clinging to this like a drowning man clings to a life preserver

No matter how many times it’s pointed out that Freeman had to beat SEC Champion UGA and Penn State in the Orange, both things Kelly never accomplished

Weaponized!!!!!

ND wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs this year under the old system.

Under the old system, the four teams selected for the playoffs mirrored what the old BCS computer model said in 9 of 10 years.

This year, Notre Dame was number 3 in the “old” BCS ranking. They were number 2 in ESPN FPI. They were number 1 in strength of record. They certainly would have made a 4 team playoff with only one loss.
