The DL coach will be implementing Saban’s defensive concepts

He's not just gonna come in and start telling his unit to do what he wants them to do

When I saw this I said the same. This may be the best d line coach we've had in decades.
He'll get his direction from Saban but his pass rushing techniques are what I'm excited about. In today's game u have to have dominant defensive ends and we have not been, shall we say, impressive the last few years.

For those who worry about can he recruit think about this, if you get a 5* d-lineman on campus let him walk down the hall of nfl players and then sit in CNSabans office and see the championship rings on coaches desk and then say the coach who will be your coach has a reputation of putting his players in the NFL.

I think we will be able to hold our own against most.

I would almost take a ban bet that as long as CNS is the coach we will be #1 in recruiting next year.

Anyone want some?

If your DL is pinning its ears back and shooting gaps on every play it leaves you vulnerable to screens and delays. It doesn't matter who you're LBs are. It's simple schematics. You'll see, but the thing is the positives outweigh the negatives IMO. You'll get gashed a few times a game by a good play caller. It's going to happen. You live with that if you're leading the SEC in sacks and TFLs. He creates a lot of negative plays for the offense, but the trade off is being vulnerable in a couple of areas.

This hasn’t been said over and over in one form or another for over a decade.

always felt like Missouri DLs were all about flying upfield and getting penetration, which isn’t really Saban’s style.

Maybe it wasn't...until guys like Jonathan Allen came along.

If he's coaching at Alabama I'd imagine he'll recruit just fine.

When you can say that every single recruit that stayed 3 years got a NC ring, that says a lot. You can basically guarantee a kid a national championship, and history says you wouldn't be wrong.
