That Bama defense would hold 2023 Bama offense to less than 150 total yards

If they played each all 12 games

They moved ahead of Texas A&M in week 7 and were the consensus #2 team the last several weeks of the season. TAMU lost their bowl game 28-3. Luck had nothing to do with it.

It mostly had to do with the joke that was Texas A&M's schedule that year.

The #2 team in the Southwest conference finished 7-5. Only 4 teams finished above .500 (A&M, a 7-5 Baylor, and 2 teams that finished 6-5).

Their OOC game was against an LSU team that went 2-9.

Even if Alabama had been #3 going into the SECCG, beating Florida would have easily jumped them over Texas A&M.

Too bad he sucked at coaching.

Yeah...he really sucked his 3 years there.

7-5
9-3
10-2

1989 SEC title and Sugar Bowl berth.

In addition to being selected SEC Coach of the Year in 1989, Curry received the national coaching accolade named for his beloved mentor, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award.

Plus he recruited most of the 1992 NC team.

I hope our coach sucks that bad in the near future.

It’s Alabama. Mike Shula won 10 games in a season there. Mike DuBose won an SEC title. How’d Curry do at GA Tech and Kentucky? He was a legitimately terrible head coach.

Good enough to be offered the job at Bama.

By the way, that year Georgia Tech won a NC. Guess who recruited that team?

31-43-4. He’s was awful at Tech.

He’d been gone for four years. The vast majority of that roster was recruited by Bobby Ross and staff.

There are a lot of memorable games with Southern Miss. I’ll never forger the catch by Prothro in ‘05.

What's really funny is you have no idea what you're laughing about

They both coach secondary, hands on, as head coaches

They both are base run first and play action perfection

Saban was still only allowing 190-200 yards passing per game, as of 2017

Interesting tidbit...that Southern Miss team finished 7-4. Of their 4 losses, 3 were to SEC teams (and their end of season schedule and rankings):

1 - Alabama - 13-0 NC - Score 10-17
NR - Auburn - 5-5-1 - Score 8-16
10 - Florida - 9-4 - Score 20-24
