The 1957 AU team was great but the Coaches didn't award them the title? Oh that's right, they were on probation....I almost forgot.

BTW, most reasonable fans know that we have 8 legit titles (AP/UPI/Coaches) but we also can't disregard what happened prior to 1936.

Also Tiger, unfortunately for you, we as fans can not decide if a NC is deserved. MOST people recognize everything AWARDED by the AP/UPI/Coaches.

That is my point without playoff there has never been a legit National Champion so to base your entire football history on it is absurd. No one can argue with undefeated. There is no opinion that goes into it no made up undefeated. bammers have problems when you bring facts into conversations. So take your bobs ribs national championships and be happy.

All you have with a playoff is who was hot at the end of the year. You guys are jealous of Bama football to the point of obsession. Get some help. Its unhealthy.

2) Yeah, so you had a bunch of local newspapers each naming the closest good team the "champion." It was chaotic and unorganized. In any given year, there were probably four or five "champions."

These aren't local newspapers and yeah there were national gridiron champions in those days too.

Not true. AU has been recognized like 10 times, yet AU does not claim 10 national championships.

MOST people recognize titles they earned and deserved. Bama does not however. MOST of the titles bama claims are not legit.

Those paper are meaningless. 1925 and 1926 were legit national championship years. Now find some non-local papers for the others bama claims from winning the Rose Bowls if you want to make any type of point whatsoever.

Does AU officially recognize them?

No.

In other words, you have no point in this discussion.

No but someone sure was asshurt enough to throw a parade and have rings made up for a championship that in your words was not earned.

Your school isnt some Holier than Thou school like you always try to make them out as to be. The quicker you realize that, the better off you will be. All schools have faults. Even Auburn. Just take off the Auburn glasses every once in a while

Wait a minute. AU has been recognized by the AP/UPI/Coaches/BSC only 3 times and AU recognizes all 3.

AU recognizes two. And AU was clearly the #1, best and most deserving team in the United States both years.

Again, all this chatter, and there still remains my point. Bama only has 6 legit titles where they were the best and most deserving team in the country - ie the National Champion.

Why is it so hard for gumps to understand this?

And also, AU was likely the National Champion, defined as the best team in the country 4 times, possibly 5. However, AU conservatively recognizes two that cannot be argued even though AU should recognize 4 IMO. Bama should recognize 6, but massive gump insecurities in life have fueled a lie that gumps are either not smart enough or too insecure to admit to. Not all, but the majority.

Yes 2, 1957 and 2010. AU was recognized by the AP in 1957 (Ohio St. won the UPI that year); and the AP and BCS (which is part of the coaches trophy now) in 2010.

Sorry I said 3, I got AU mixed up with LSU.

Anyway, did you not say that AU had been recognized 10 times by a major poll but didn't claim them?
