No. Not major poll like AP, Coaches, BCS. Just any one of the dozens that award a title. Bama has 8 from major polls, but many of them were frick ups that were so embarrassing the polling system had to change the way they named a champion the next year. Of course, bama still claims them even though they are bullshite.

Herald-Journal, November 29th, 1926

"Out of the melee, a complicated national championship situation remains, with Alabama, Stanford..."

Are you kidding me? This is your evidence for a national championship in 1926? This article does not claim Alabama is a national champion. It says three teams finished the season undefeated. That is all. Did Alabama play Stanford in Pasadena to settle it all?

Wow.

I need to find that note where that girl in third grade said I was cute. Maybe that will convince my wife I am good looking.

Alabama played Stanford to a 7-7 tie in the Rose Bowl.

Ok, misunderstood.

Still according to the rules and regs at the time, Alabama was voted #1.

Yes, Alabama will claim the major poll National Championships awarded to them. I believe that any and all schools, including AU, would do the same.

Can you show us any team that refuses to claim a National Championship awarded to them by the AP, UPI, or BCS?

Au 57 is the biggest frick up of all. Talk about nonlegit. Didn't even go to a bowl game.

And I gave them credit for 1925.

Ok, Bama is down to 5 legit titles.

"...proposed New Year's day battle..."

Settles it for me. The significance of a game (not even referred to as the Rose Bowl) that was played to a tie means Alabama is clearly the 1926 national champion. Flawless, irrefutable logic. Wonder how Lafayette finished their season.

This 13 championship thing is the gift that keeps on giving.

I am not sure why gumps struggle so much with reading comprehension, but that is part of the plight of being a gump I suppose.

Last time, my criteria is being the best and most deserving team in the country.

AU is at 4.

Bama is at 5 now.

Auburn will always be a stepsister, because their worth is measured by how their fans try to measure up to Bama.

No, you have trouble with your own criteria you are using to attack Alabama's awarded titles. You want to strip poll titles because of bowl losses, but neglect to mention that Auburn wasn't even in a bowl in 1957. They were on probation and a post-season ban.

So by your criteria, can Bama claim 1966?

He probably doesn't even realize, that last year, Auburn achieved in SEC Championships, what Bama had already done by 1964.

I think someone should take a look at Notre Dame's awarded poll titles and other claims. Michigan and Ohio State would be other relevant examples. People act as if Alabama has taken these great lengths to build up this "imaginary history" for its program.

ND didn't play in bowls before 1970. Michigan claims 9 that aren't AP, OSU I think claims 5 of their 7 that aren't and one shared, that Ga claims.

Exactly my point. It starts to prove the idea that bowls were only an exhibition before the change in the voting methods in 1967 by the AP, and later by the UPI/Coaches.

Do not know enough about it. Billingsly lists ND. Would have to hear Bama's case over Notre Dame. Like record, H2H and SOS for both teams.
