Not that anyone really wants to hear this, but the updated death count in Alabama is 204.....just unreal

It is. It's gonna keep climbing until remote areas can be checked out too unfortunately.

Luckily the shoals didn't get much damage. I have three HUGE trees down, but that's about it. My sister lives between athens and madison. The tornadoes past about 1/4 mile from her house. Luckily all it did was break her fence, take away her trampoline, and destroy the swing set fort. All my friends in huntsville are ok, but none of them have power, some no water. And a few have no house.
Got some refugees coming to hang out this weekend til they get power back.

This is a facebook page of people posting things they found that were picked up by the tornado. Its aim is to return the items to their owners. Great idea and awesome of people to do this.

According to the Madison PD and the Limestone County Sheriffs...that area just got a little wind damage. No power, telephone or anything...but they should be okay. If they were about a 1/2 mile up the road...it would have been different though. I hope you can get a hold of them tonight. If not, yell at me on here tomorrow and I will call someone I know up that way and have them ride by.

Yeah the Shoals got out pretty lucky. One house near me has a tree leaning on it and the roots pushed some of the pavement up. Also on the day of the storm I saw some trees laying in the road. Today I was in Wal Mart and saw a lot of people getting bottle water and the gas stations have long lines. My place has large oak trees all around so I can say I'm pretty lucky.

Yes, we were very lucky here in the Shoals. Wish everyone else was as well. Stupid storms.

I am just devastated at the news coming out of AL & neighboring states. Most LSU fans can understand the impact of this kind of travesty. God bless you all, keep you safe and give you strength in the upcoming weeks & months!

It's funny how quickly this planet can humble us.

also...
Just remembered a good friend of mine that's a sports broadcaster had a house he was selling a mile away from my Family's. He said per their real estate agent, the guys house didn't get much damage. If all of my family was home during the storm, I think they are fine. But he did say power would be out for probably weeks.

I made it to Oxford today. Drove across Alabama. And wow. First I went through Dadeville. That was some serious damage. Then I got into Birmingham. A lot of damage there. The traffic was backed up big time due to street lights not working this morning. Then once I got on I-20 I lost cell phone coverage.....it seems like that tornado went all that way down 20. Trees/debris every where. Tuscaloosa was just eerie. It is just sad seeing all that damage. Just crazy that all that happened in the matter of minutes.
