Paying $3 for a Missouri valley coach? Reeks of desperation IMO

If Tuscaloosa is an armpit then Wichita is a crotch.

nothing against saban or marshall but why would saban being there make marshall want to come? are they friends? if not, i don't see why knowingly walking into a 2nd fiddle position would be on the list of reasons to take a job.

Wichita is a better job
He has a lifetime contract there
At Bama, there are no guarantees and you are constantly overshadowed by the football program

Yes, but like Shaka Smart it's not about the location or money at this point. Those guys know that their names are coming up for some big jobs on coaches move on or retire here soon. And they're content where they're at.

I have issues with alabama, but I would rather live just about anywhere in alabama than anywhere in kansas.

Saban getting heavily involved could easily remind Marshall that he will always be 2nd fiddle at bama

No fricking way. Wichita is 10 fold better than the majority of Alabama. There are decent areas in Bama but Wichita is fun. Old Town bar district and the North side. shite. Keep in mind Kansas is very big into college basketball.

Brewery all over the place. I loved it.

I just don't see why he would willingly be second fiddle at Alabama. The guy's wonderfully ego-centric, so I don't understand stepping into a situation where he won't be The Guy like he'd want to be.

Didn't Marshall say in an interview this morning on ESPN that he would not want to go to a "Football School"? I would see that as the only reason UA doesn't get him. UA has everything a coach would want in a program, and the money to back it up.

Saban has turned Alabama in to a national brand.

He has perspective on coming from outside the area and recruiting.

Saban wants the basketball program to thrive along with everything else at the University and will likely do anything he can to help.

Lucky on 24/7 went as far as to say if it happens the University should owe Saban a finders fee.

what does that have to do with a preference over what state to reside in?

Dude not happening.

He's not going to come in and rebuild a non-brand basketball program. He already has a bigger basketball brand at WSU.

He's only going to leave for a top 5 job and Alabama certainly isn't that.

I just don't see Marshall leaving his situation for anything short of a blue blood basketball school.

I would imagine Indiana would come after Marshall hard if/when they get rid of Crean.

Some of y'all are underestimating the amount of money Bama is willing to throw at him

quote:

@GaryParrishCBS I’m told money is no object at Alabama. Will start above $3 million. Would go as high as they need to go. Gonna make Gregg Marshall say no.

Bama fans assume that everyone loves Saban as much as they do. And while I'm sure most Alabama fans would leave their trailer to follow Saban in the desert for 40 years, a coach with a serious career isn't going to care.
