I drank pretty heavily for about 30 years, and decided about 6 years ago to quit. I haven't drank again since then. It was harder to stop smoking, which I did about 14 years ago.
Obviously, some folks have a harder time than others do, but if you are motivated, it's not so hard to stop.

It isn't always a good gauge as to how an offense or defense will perform if the guy is a head coach rather than the coordinator. Kiffin is a very good example of this.
edit: Well, and then there is the matter of how talented is the one team as compared to the other.
