Beat Auburn? Possibly. Easily?: Only if Newton gets hurt or goes stupid and fumbles the ball a few times or throws a few interception. That or if Les Miles' Ghost takes over AU's Offense and does retarded things.

Has Newton ever fumbled?

I want to say he hasn't. He's thrown a few INT's, but not enough to do serious damage obviously.

Like I said, not saying Bama's defense is even as good as LSU's, but I certainly believe that the scheme is going to be more effective against a team like AU. Cam is going to get his, no doubt about it. He's just too good to not be successful. But I really do believe the defensive philosophy will be more effective, and like I said, I think Alabama will be able to run the ball more effectively than LSU and control the TOP advantage and keep Cam off the field.

Alabama will NOT beat Auburn easily, one play could actually decide the entire game. Same thing with LSU, both will be battles until the end.

One play could decide the whole game. Pick your poison.

Auburns D held LSU to 200 yards

Saban with a bye week coupled with the talent on Bama's squad; not pretty unless something drastic changes with LSU in 2 weeks....

Now, that's the key. LSU, Clem, Ky,etc..have come close to besting Aub. But, none had the smashmouth TOP ball-control O that a Saban/Bama type team employ.

Fairley and Co are gonna have to man-up vs Tide OL and RBs, and the Aubie Pass D will need to ball hard vs a McCoy whom with a big game to TE Dial and the three top WRs could be the game changers.

Which is why, I'd like to see them capitalize this year.

LSU, Fla, and Bama, and UGA, are usually gonna have the better recruits. That's at least four large hurdles, let alone what the rest of the SEC brings yearly. Aubie's natty title chances aren't as often.

USC Baseball finally quit flirting, and snatched it..

UGA Football, slept a few chances, and LSU swept 'em in '03..

It'd be nice to see one of the SEC's better mens majors programs of the last thirty years, one whom has been tantalizingly close on many occasions over varying decades..cash in.

Newton has fumbled once or twice, but we recovered.

You do know that Lsu could win out and still play for a NC? Kind of sounds like a lot of the fan base has thrown in the towel. Not really specifying this at you but in general.

The problem is, Alabama's running game has performed ineptly against decent defenses and I'll go ahead and get this out of the way before the Alabama fans bring it up: TENNESSEE SUCKS THIS YEAR, 'BAMA FANS!

As far as the passing game is concerned, Fairley is going to give McElroy hell all game long. And what is McElroy's main weakness? Instead of getting rid of the ball, he takes a sack 9 out of 10 times when all the receivers are covered. Again Alabama fans, TENNESSEE SUCKS THIS YEAR!

Auburn's secondary is bad, but Fairley is bad-arse. If McElroy has too much heat on him, and the running game is stuffed all night, our offense won't be capable of competing with Malzahn's O.

I'm not giving up on LSU's chances, but it would take some serious dominos. And let's be honest.

Sure, LSU played close games vs UF, Ala, UM, PSU, last year. And were tied at Aub with 5 minutes left.

But, LSU has fielded a seriously dysfunctional Offense for at least 20 games straight now.

LSU, plays up and/or down to the competition in the Miles era, not to a set standard, especially since the start of 2008.

Sense of Identity, Process vs Results, Modus Operandi, Setting A Standard, Making Your Mark, W-L vs Top 5/10/20 Teams, November W-L column, SEC W-L since end of '07, etc..LSU is just now righting the ship(?), and back on the climb, in regards to all these gradings since the end of 2007..

Baby Steps!

If Alabama wins the game it will be because of the coaching staff.

Alabama's going to have to score, keep Aubie's offense off the field, force turnovers, and play near-flawless ball on D.

You can bet that the coaching staff will be watching the frick out of some LSU-Auburn film this week.

Not a flame or anything but had LSU's punter not pinned Auburn deep so many times the score probably wouldn't have been as close. Plus you have our last possession from the 3 which more than likely would have been a score.
But it's the iron bowl which means anything can happen. If anyone can find an answer for Cam it's Saban. Looking forward to a great game, but we've still got three more games to take care of first

That's not a flame...that's truth. You look at the stats and wonder why it was so close. AU more than doubled their yardage. I think the punter pinned AU inside the 5, 4 times? 5 times? Plus, at the time Cam started taking knees at the 3 yard line, they were making LSU's D look like swiss cheese. He could have walked in...then it's 28-14 in spite of the craziest punting performance I think I have ever seen.

Rivalry games are always different, but the fact remains that Auburn put up 24 on LSU defense and put up a lot more yards than most thought they would.

Well if Bama thinks they are going to beat Auburn silly then Auburn has the game in the bag.

He has fumbled twice in 150+ carries.

Auburn recovered both.
