Oregon was clearly better than Washington (favored by 10)

Alabama was clearly better than Texas (favored by 7)

Michigan was clearly better than TCU (favored by 7.5)

It’s College Football people. Upsets are quite literally the name of the game.

Kicking out an undefeated power 5 conference champion just because you think Alabama is better is honestly inexcusable.

Thankfully this won’t be a problem come next year, but man this one baffles me

We should be more concerned with why LSU's defense prevented LSU from being in that position. All LSU had to do was beat em and they wouldn't be there.

Do you think Milroe would have had 55 yards passing vs Louisville?

I know I have an LSU fan banner thing, and I do love the Tigers, but in this case I’m really not making this argument from the point of view of being an LSU fan. I gave up on this season long before the Alabama game, and tbh I wasn’t even that into it to start with.

No one, and I mean no one, thought TCU was gonna beat Michigan last year. They were clearly the worse team, but they won. That’s what college football is all about.

Maybe the eye test says FSU are clearly worse. I tend to think the eye test should also include Alabama sucking against Auburn, but I digress. The point is that either way, the logic of “oh team A is just clearly better than team B”, is just straight up bad logic

I feel like at this point everyone who follows CFB should know that, but I guess not

No? Thankfully football games aren’t won by “yards passing” though

Not to fricking mention the QB that played in the ACC championship game wouldn’t even be the one playing in the playoffs

Wouldn't have been a problem this year if the ACC commissioner and his cabal not blocked the 12 team playoff starting a year early.

Thank you ! Wasn’t that with the unanimous agreement of all ACC schools?

Absolutely agree. But it still shouldn’t have been a problem either way

FSU had #55 SOS with LSU on the schedule. How bad would it be without us? #55. That’s why they are undefeated.

Cool, you can think FSU is bad and that they don’t deserve to be undefeated.

They won all their games, so let them play the game. Saying “oh no we think Alabama is better” in a sport with this many fricking upsets and not letting the undefeated team at least try is simply ludicrous

My point being that last night FSU was playing the best team they had faced since week 1 & looked like arse. They had to put the RB in at QB to score their only TD. No one in that committee room was sitting there going " oh man this so easy this is OBVIOUSLY one of the four best teams!".

The committee got it right based on the criteria agreed upon. Theres nothing in the criteria about putting in undefeated teams over 1-loss teams. It does say they should consider SoS & player injury whuch was obviously detrimental to FSU.

But it was “A win is a win” when Alabama barely beat an awful Auburn team

So how is it not “A win is a win” now?

Does the committee somehow think that Auburn game wasn’t just as embarrassing if not more so than the FSU-Louisville game?

There’s just 0 consistency at all

And FSU was down in the 3rd quarter to UNA a couple weeks ago. That "elite" defense of theirs nearly blew a 21 point lead in the 2nd half vs Boston College.

Maybe if FSU had actually beaten someone during the season they would have gotten the benefit of the doubt, but theres really nothing there to hang your hat on.
