the reason I don' even engage with mouthbreathers like who you responded to is because they refuse to acknowledge that maybe, juuuust maybe, the other team battled similar situations. In 2021 our best pass rusher and maybe evne best defense period (on a roster full of standout defenders) was lost for the season after the UF game never to be heard from again. Our biggest receiving threat was gimpy and could barely play. In fact he played even less snaps in the title game than Jamo. But none of that matters to them.

In the 2022 peach bowl against OSU we thankfully held on but if fate had gone the other way and we lost by 2 at the last second...wouldn't not having Nolan Smith have probably mattered a great deal?

Hell even last year, our 2 best offensive players by far (brock and ladd) were both banged up and ladd could barely even jog.

With all that said though... I don' see any UGA fans still startin threads about them or harping on them daily like bama fans do. It's football, it happens, life goes on. But not for bama fans...I swear there will be bama fans on their deathbed whose dying breath will be talkin about injuries to john metchie.

For all intents and purposes UGA did not have their starting QB in the 2021 title game. I know that Bennett was the established team leader by that point BUT it wasn't the case until midway through the season and it was the result of injury.

The best case in point is the 2017 natty game. Alabama's starting QB struggled and UGA was about to boat race Alabama. Alabama was deep enough and talented enough to make adjustments and won the game. That is what winning requires....talented depth. Alabama was slightly behind UGA in that in 2021, UGA was slightly behind Alabama in that in the SECCG in 2023.

This is exactly why winning in the SEC is slightly tougher than it is in other conferences....8 conference games takes a toll in the SEC. Late in the season you gotta have talented depth. When you play a one of 2 game season it is not as important. It really comes into play in the post season, in ALL sports. Players coming off the bench are usually the difference in championship seasons and good seasons. Its also why so many champions are pretty damn good next year....because they had depth last year who got substantial playing time. It is EXACTLY the reason so many really good teams find themselves in a struggle with a rent a win team in the first half. Talented depth is usually the difference between a championship and a pretty good season where you come up just short....

Correct. We won that title with our backup qb starting.

Bama would have been fricked with their backup qb starting.

I agree. It is absurd that a Georgia fan, who watched his team go 42 years between national titles, is who started this thread. Just absurd.

"1-5"

6...number of losses Bama has had the last 3 years
2...number of losses UGA has had the last 3 years

The decline was real...Saban knew it, and.....

UGA needs an asterik on 2021 and 2022....Two WR go down and you still trailed until late, Bama would have crushed you like in the SEC title game otherwise, then in 2022 they dopes but in TCU over Bama, and of course you have not "really" beaten Bama since 2007.

Never heard of a team named Saban.

Sounds like some heavy dosages of cope to me.

Then either you're ignorant, in denial, or I (UGA fan) got more respect for the legendary coach than you have. Saban's gone, and he can't be replaced. You know I'm right.

And he wasn't replaced with Shula either dipshit.

Unlike Georgia and Kirby, Saban doesn't even make up half of our legitimate national championships, much less 66% of them.

'Bama owned UGA long before Saban came to town.

And the new staff is ahead of Georgia in the recruiting rankings.

And the majority of the players that blew up both their lines of scrimmage in Atlanta a few months ago are returning.

It's some serious wishful thinking to believe Alabama is going to drop off a cliff without Saban, especially when you look at the recruits coming in.

Now imagine if uga was fully healthy in 21/22. What then? Oh, you didn’t even consider that idea.

There is only one decade in the modern era that Alabama has not won a national championship, the 1980s. They won at least one in every other decade. In the last 65 years, the longest span between national championships was 13 years.

One of your own, very intelligent I might add, Bama fans on this forum even rebuked the whole leaning on the Metchie/Williams injury thing...he said it best; 'Championship teams have championship depth.' Only someone with chronic vaginosis would not admit they got beat by a better team.

Depth is a different issue than not having your best players. When Bama had their best players, they blew Georgia out just a month earlier.

Again....Championship teams have championship depth. We had injuries in that game too. We had injuries in the NC game, the SECCG game against LSu, against Ohio st and in the 2nd natty game. It didn't stop us. Championship teams plug in and win anyway. That's the difference.

what point is it you think you're making here? Because if we're using your same "gotcha" logic, then ole miss was clearly the superior program than bama in 2014/2015 despite the hardware that would indicate otherwise.

Did you mean to post this towards the Georgia fan who was citing losses over the past 3 years as evidence?
