I feel confident when I say I really think everyone will universally hate Texas.

You Cajuns have a lot on your plate at this point.

Agree, and that says a whole lot. Oklahoma has always owned Texas, always have been a much superior product, and not many posters here seem to begrudge Oklahoma the opportunity to play in the SEC.
Conversely, probably 90%, just guessing, of all posters of every fan-base represented here really do not like the idea of Longhorns joining the conference.
I don't know why that is other than Texas having a rotten rep for trying to own and control things because they have always been allowed that privilege.
Oklahoma fans can you provide some minutia about why Texas is so universally despised? Just what the hell is it? Is it the total control they think they have to have over every aspect of everything or is it just the arrogant, smug, haughty fans?

Wolfhound, sorry for not responding earlier. Your response won the thread and was delivered perfectly.

I don’t think so. For those of us who travel to away games, Austin is a fun road trip and they’re pretty damn good at basketball and baseball so it’s a good fit. I can’t think of another big name school that’s not already locked in a stable conference who I would like the SEC to add. Don’t say Clemson or FSU. That’s never happening.

You will soon learn that Texas doesn't give a flying frick about your customs and they ain't here to learn, they are here to teach. They will try to bend you to their every whim and desire and they won't do shite to adjust to the culture of the SEC.
You ags are really worried about this situation. If they want to be the outlier, let them. They are at the southwestern edge of the conference. They can continue to be a liberal-minded university that pretends to care about football. It doesn’t bother me. The real Horn fans will probably have lots of fun visiting the rest of the conference and experiencing gameday. I don’t think the trash on here leaves the basement much.

Alabama and their SEC Office will determine what moves Texas is allowed to make and how they will be made. Your team has now entered another world where they will hold very little sway.
It's going to be a humbling experience that will lead to positive growth in the personality of Longhorns. No one makes decisions, suggestions, recommendations, etc... in the SEC without them being approved by Birmingham/Alabama.

Because they constantly operate with the attitude that they are “back.” This notion is further perpetuated by their allies in sports media. Texas has blown in the past, blows in the present, and will continue to blow well in to the future. All of this in spite of their nearly limitless resources, which they will continually remind anyone and everyone about.

I'm trying to be honest by not hiding and also trying to be polite. Perhaps I will be allowed to hang around a bit if I don't enrage everyone and light up Lew's messages.
I always enjoy reading your perspectives on things, Wolfhound.

I see. That does seem irritating and would get old fast. Thanks for the encapsulation. Surely they don't trash talk Oklahoma though; that would be something clowns would do.

The irony of the whole Texas destroys conferences thing is Texas as of today as we are still in the Big 12 currently, has only been in 2 conferences the last 106 years...
Quite the path of destruction

So now the rest of the SEC will hate BOTH of the UT's.

It's the meddling and unfavorable results that has for other teams that has some worried. That's a valid concern and several former conference members have expressed this view.
It was like breaking free to get away from Texas, etc... Why would they say those things if there were not some truth to some of it?
We don't act like spoiled, fighting children in the SEC. Our AD's and presidents don't have sniping fests with others in the conference. We don't air our dirty laundry out for all to examine.
Texas will have to learn to behave like adults after they arrive in the SEC. If there is a problem here or something is not right, teams and presidents and AD's take it to Saban to mediate and he will have meetings with your representatives at Alabama's SEC office.
Things are taken care of and our business isn't public.
