Florida had the ball for 11:55 of the 4th.

Ouch.

Saban's defense couldn't stop them or get them off the field. Alabama had no answer for Tebow. Was this a depth issue or a scheme issue?

Maybe a little of both. But, the fact is, Florida dominated the 4th quarter and Alabama faded away. And, that was the ball game.

Since Alabama controlled the game until that point im going to say that depth was bigger. That and Tebow took over

We were flat in the fourth and they were on fire. I thought we had a chance until that quarter.

Oh my gawd. I watched the game, and knew it was bad, but didn't realize it was that bad.

It took 3 quarters for Tebow et al to figure Bama out, and it was a hard fought game. Tebow always manages to pull it out though. He's coming back and will break all kinds of records next year. I'll be glad when that bastard graduates.

I wouldn't say they controlled the game. The score was 20-17 and it was anyone's game. Florida then took over.

Alabama was used to wearing people down with their big lines and punishing rushing attack. It looks like Florida rope-a-doped them and then shut them out at the end. If Alabama had been able to maintain a drive, it might have been a different story, but they disappeared.

But, with greater depth in the future, they might be able to finish better. As all Alabama fans like to say, "wait till next year."

I think depth, and just Florida was the better team. After running 24 plays and holding the ball almost 11 minutes in the third, I thought we'd be a little better off in the 4th, but got to give credit to Florida, they were the better team.

Wow. Bama had the ball almost 11 minutes in the 3rd? I didn't realize that. Why would your defense be tired then? They had only really played a half of football.

Scratch the depth excuse, then. Florida just took it to Alabama's vaunted defense in the 4th quarter. Saban talks about dominating your opponent for 60 minutes. It's a shame that 15 minutes away from a trip to the BCS National Championship Game with a lead in an game that you had in hand, your defensive genius head coach couldn't figure out a way to get Florida off the field. Pity.

________________

Sorry. With all the Saban worship around here, I just wanted to point out that he's human too and his teams aren't perfect. If LSU under Miles would have led 20-17 against Florida going into the 4th and we had had 1 yard total offense and Florida would have won 31-20, everyone would be criticizing Miles and pining away from Saban. But, in one of the biggest games of his life, he didn't get the job done.

He's a great coach. But, he's human. Everyone needs to realize that and get some perspective.

Miles is better than you think, too. He'll right the ship here.

depth. I think in a year or two Saban gets all of his players in there its a different story.

We had the ball 10 minutes 33 seconds and outscored Florida 10-0 in the 3rd. That's why I thought we would be ok in the 4th. Florida just had better players in the end and they've been in bigger games than this Bama team the last few years. Bama will learn and grow from this one I think.

Other stats of interest for the game:

Total time of poss:
Bama 27:56 Florida 32:04

1st Downs
Bama 18 Florida 19

Rushing
Bama 136 Florida 142

Passing
Bama 12-25-1 for 187 Florida 14-22 for 216

Total yards
Bama 323 Florida 358

Only 6 penalties between both teams. Glad the refs let the teams decide it. Main difference in the game, when they got in the red zone, they scored 2 touchdowns, we kicked two field goals. In the end, it was good to see good smashmouth football and not this glorified arena ball everyone is playing out west.

Stats are pretty close, but dang that fourth quarter killed us. Florida is a great team and glad we could "hang" with them because most thought we couldn't.

I said that was the gamechanger most definitely. I give Florida all the credit in the world, they are an awesome team, but we battled pretty heavy until the fourth. Dang it!

Florida is damn good, but I still hate them. It's a Meyer thing.

I hate hangovers from losing a game like this, so I feel your pain.

Enjoy the Sugar Bowl. Kudos on a GREAT season!

I think one of the main things that fans take from this game was that Bama did not quit. It's been a longgggggggggg time since we've seen our team play every down until the clock hit 0:00. Our defense didn't give up at the end and even though we couldn't do anything on offense at the end, they didn't give up. The psyche of our team is finally making the turn it needs to, to compete on a national level once again. Another year or two and we should be in the double digit column on a regular basis, I think.

UF's playcalling in the 3rd quarter was horrible, and that is what gave Bama momentum. They missed tackles and Bama players, specifically Coffee willed the Tide to the TD in the 3rd. He was stopped short but refused to give up.

Coffee, the OL, and Jones are the reason Bama had a shot. Their other receivers did nothing and JPW didn't do much either.

Meyer was stubborn and refused to adjust his offense the first 3 quarters. Saban adjusted, Meyer didn't until the 4th. The game changed at that point as Saban had no answer.

The one called during the stop on third down (late 3d quarter?), Florida ran right and the Bama defender chased down the ball carrier and touched the facemask during the play.

Kept the O on the field...
