I know that the Bama beat writer nerds get nothing and like it from Saban and there's very little intel coming out of preseason practice, but what are your honest and realistic expectations for the wide receiver group?
Is "average to slightly above average" good enough to win a title with Bryce Young and the defense, or would that derail the whole season?

I think our expectations will always be too high after producing Ridley, Ruggs, Jeudy, Smith, Metchie, Waddle, and Williams in such a short time frame.
We will have to run the ball well to win a title this season. If we can’t then we fall short again.

their recent history at the position is unmatched and they have the heisman winner at QB. I'm sure their starting WRs will be plenty good enough to win a bunch of games.

Pretty unknown right now. Got a bunch of guys but no clear idea who the top 2-3 will be. I do think Alabama has two of the most dynamic pass catching RBs in the nation with Jase McClellan and Jahmyr Gibbs. So I expect to see a lot of receptions, receiving yards and reviving TDs shifted to that group and more spread among the receiver group in general. So I expect Young’s numbers to be similar to last year but doubt there will be two 1000 yard WRs again like last year, possibly not even one. Burton is probably the most likely to be the guy if there is one.

Same as always. Do what you are asked to do. Play winning football. If your number is called play like a champion.
If you're not a deep threat then you be the best curl route runner in America. If you are a vertical threat then take the top off and make that safety believe he's in trouble.

4 freshmen. The highest rated freshman wr at Bama coming out of hs is NOLA's Aaron Anderson. But a kid from Shelby County, AL had 5 receptions at the scrimmage on Saturday. That's about all I know about it.

First team 3 during camp have been Brooks, Burton and Holden. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the freshmen or Harrel come on later in the season, though.
