I give him 10 solid years minimum.

I guess it's possible. Bowden and Paterno both retired in their 80s, but most of their last 10 seasons were less than stellar.

Without a doubt. Ask any Texan fan what they think about Bill O’Brien. Saban made his worst hire with him imho.

Do you think the penalties and line of scrimmage problems will be fixed by coordinator changes? Not trolling, legitimately asking.

Not directly by coordinators. Indirectly yes. Position coaches make these type changes happen. But IF the coordinators put an emphasis on them and stick their foot up the position coaches arse to make it a main point of emphasis? Then yes.

I think Pete Golding was a decent coach. He had a GREAT mind for breaking down film and devising schemes. Sometimes too good. He tried to scheme for every single formation and personnel package. His defense was complex, and when it worked it was phenomenal. But he forgot to put any emphasis on fundamentals. And he forgot that humans do suffer from fatigue. And in the 4th quarter, when EVERYBODY is tired and slower, both mentally and physically, than the beginning of the game, he got exposed. Players were a step slow getting in the hole, and they alone were responsible for it because Pete had two guys hanging back in case there was a fb dive/pitch back to the quarterback/lateral to the wide receiver/post to the other WR play they ran one time 6 years ago he saw on film. Or more common the LB that had his bell rung all night did not pick up on a back out of the back field and left him open. Those types of things happen. Instead of just lining up and playing “go get the ball” and make the tackle defense. He out schemed himself in the 4th quarter.

His stats overall looked good, because he feasted on the OOC opponents whose first string players were not as gifted as his fresh second string players that he put in in the 3rd and 4th quarters. And even then there were busted coverages and players caught out of position because things were so complex. And then against good SEC caliber opponents? Go look at his 4th quarter only statistics.

So to answer your question, a coordinator can make penalties decrease and line of scrimmage control improve if that is where his focus is.

It's cute that LSU won the West last year but they also lost 4 games, including 3 blowouts, one of which to a 4-7 team, and LSU still finished ranked behind Alabama when rankings matter most.

In a year when they were supposed to go 6-6.

But now, the casuals want to move the goalposts.

Absolutely.

It's the 5th or 6th time his career has ended, according to opposing fans, so I'm sure THIS time is the correct prediction and all those others were just dress rehearsals.

Alabama will be better than LSU this season
that would not surprise me, but I definitely know they are going to be better than A&M

Overall, downward from here. But the ability to pull another title or two is there. Kirby and UGA will have a lot to say about whether or not they can get over the hump again.

Mark Richt would have a title or two if he hadn't had face Saban in his prime.

We've seen the beginning of the end for every person we've seen born.

It isn't consuming opposing fanbases. It is just easier for us to see. Enjoy your cup of tea in the middle of the fire.

Of course its consuming you. I mean you were seeing it in 2013.

Saban has gone back to a young, proven offense mind and a National ring wearing defensive coordinator in Steele.
