No, the man doesn't have $800K to pay, and perhaps the sentence was harsh. But there are consequences for every action, and he should have to face them. He was living in Louisiana. If he still lives there, how does he have money to travel to watch Alabama play in person?
His wages, minus whatever expenses he needs to have food to eat, a roof over his head and electricity in that building, should be garnished. Otherwise, throw him in prison. And if he's truly mentally ill, put him in an institution.
