UGA has 6 titles recognized by the NCAA, but only claims 2.

The UGA Athletic Dept. needs to get with it and do what everybody else is doing....claim'em ALL!!

From a Tennessee sports website....

"We know about how the Alabama Crimson Tide and Notre Dame Fighting Irish go back and randomly claim national titles all the time. With other schools now doing it, it’s only fair that the Vols join in on the fun."

Tennessee claims they've actually won 14 national titles. 14!!! Are you kidding me???? Look, read and weep at this.... Tennessee lies just like Alabama

Tennessee claiming 1967 is identical to Alabama claiming the 1941 title = ridiculous.

UGA easily could claim 1920, 1927, 1946 and 1968 (1942 & 1980 are claimed titles) -- all listed in NCAA Records Book as recognized titles.

The UGA athletic people are bunch of mired-in-molasses fuddy duddies that need to GET WITH IT!

At least we know UGA can’t claim this one.

Good thing UGA doesn’t have to worry about national championships

And Auburn has 9 titles it can claim. Most are more credible than some of bamas’ that they do claim.

We could claim it if we did it "the Alabama way!"

Tennessee claiming 1967 is identical to Alabama claiming the 1941 title

It's actually worse than Alabama's 1941 title claim. At least in 1941 the AP was rather young and lacked the clout they enjoy today. By 1967, however, the AP had been around for over 30 years and the Coaches Poll started awarding national championships 17 years prior. Just about every program recognized those two selectors as the "must-haves" when it came to claiming a legitimate national championship. This is why Tennessee's claim to 1967 is so much more egregious than Alabama's claim to 1941. Both are piss poor claims, but Tennessee's is worse.

You can't say this:

quote:

Alabama claims 3 titles that aren't even recognized by NCAA

and this:

quote:

UGA easily could claim 1920, 1927, 1946 and 1968 (1942 & 1980 are claimed titles) -- all listed in NCAA Records Book as recognized titles

and expect anyone to take you seriously.

If you are using the NCAA "recognized title" source that lists 6 for Georgia, then you should know that that same source lists Alabama with 23. So you say Georgia doesn't claim FOUR titles that the NCAA "recognizes"? Well Alabama doesn't claim FIVE such titles.

You had no idea did you?

Since the NCAA doesn't "recognize" or have anything to do with national championships in FBS football and never have - this is true of every national championship, including 1980.

Georgia fan in the OP is going by the NCAA record books which lists 5 for Auburn.

Alabama 23
Georgia 6
Auburn 5

Everybody good with that?

AP National Titles
1. Alabama (12)
2. Florida (3)
2. LSU (3)
4. Auburn (2)
4. Tennessee (2)
6. Georgia (1)
6. Texas A&M (1)

Alabama has the same number of AP titles as the other 13 members of the SEC combined.

Alabama has won 2 more national titles in the last 10 years (5 - 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2020) than any other SEC school has in their entire history.

Since the NCAA doesn't "recognize"

Typical Bama dumbness. "Recognized" titles are those titles the NCAA lists in their "NCAA OFFICIAL RECORDS BOOK". It's a very thick record book, you know, the kind made of paper!?? It's a printed copy of all their football record-keeping. All their "recognized" national champions are listed online, too, if you're smart enough to look it up properly.

But, since the Gumps aren't smart enough, here.... LINK

If you Bama fans knew anything, you'd know what is meant by "NCAA recognized." Stupid Gumps.

So we aren't claiming 5 (NCAA says 23, we claim 18), while Georgia doesn't claim 4 (NCAA says 6, you claim 2).

So....what's your point? You should claim those 4 and we should claim 5 more?

Ok I guess.
