Most have to go into debt to acquire things, really no shame in that. It's the whole not being able to pay it back that's the arse kicker for tennessee.
We haven't come close to not being able to meet debt servicing

UT is the only SEC school that pays taxes on it's ticket sales for football and basketball. 5% entertainment tax and the 9.25% sales tax.
UT fans, not UT itself.
Incorrect. The AD itself has to pay taxes on ticket sales.

WRONG!
Just listen to our government and our federal reserve...
Debt is wealth and you can borrow your way to prospserity. Just like you can drink yourself sober.
Bama's got how many championships?
Dkdc.

This is wrong BTW. Unless it has changed, U of A rcvd over $5M in school funds as late as 2011.
This is wrong. FYI. Bama doesn't take any funding from the state.

Why does the University of Alabama, a state university, need private support?
As the Athletic Department at the University of Alabama is 100% self-supporting, all private gifts contribute directly to the needs of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. UA Athletics receives no funding from the State of Alabama. In fact, the University of Alabama Athletic Department has never received funds from the State's taxpayers. All gifts to the Crimson Tide Foundation are applied solely to the Athletic Department's needs. The Crimson Tide Foundation provides a venue through which loyal alumni, fans and friends can give financial support to the Athletic Department, while capturing all the current tax benefits allowed by the IRS. Private support enables UA Athletics to increase its standing, in both athletics and academics, over competing universities beyond what can be accomplished with annual revenue from ticket sales, media rights and other licensing agreements.
