You're exactly right.
Oddly also, that Georgia Tech coach at the time was one Bill Curry.

few non-Alabama fans admire and respect Coach Bryant as much as I do. But recruiting had gone down --for his standards-- his last few years. I think in 1981 and 1982 the combination of "I can make this boy a winner" and "don't go to Alabama. Coach Bryant is retiring" caught up with them.
I grew up pulling for Vandy. I can make a 5-6 team sound like the '85 Bears.

Coach Bryant beat a Lou Holtz #6 ranked Arkansas team in the 1980 Sugar Bowl for his last National Championship.
In 1981 coach Bryant's Crimson Tide team finished #7 in the AP poll.
In 1982, coach Bryant has the Tide ranked as high as #4 and 5-0 when they played #3 Penn State and beat JoePa 42-21. So by demise, you mean finishing the last 5 games to finish 8-4, then you have a hell of a definition of demise.
Are you sure you are a Vandy fan?

sorry my seemingly innocent post to another guy upset you so much.
I guess I should say "every Alabama football team would slaughter the Tampa Bay Bucs."

Demise and 8 and 4 don't, in half a season in 1982, don't live in the same neighborhood. If so, the rest of the SEC might as well live on demise street.

Man, I remember some heated Alabama/Vandy games back during the '80s. Not including the '84 loss, there were a handful that were one-score games.

Ummm, Saban said nobody wants to play them...but the next 12-13 years says different.
Why is he Lying?

How do you know who coach Saban has spoken to over the last decade and a half about playing football games? The teams we scheduled obviously said yes to a neutral site game. How many teams told coach Saban no that didn't make the schedule? The easy answer, you certainly don't know.

Did you miss the part where I said that the AD and Saban probably weren't even there when those games were scheduled?
When Saban arrived in alabama, teams scheduled about 5-7 years out, Max....but if you think it was 14 years out, go ahead.
SO, if 14 years out was the Case, why does the AD/Saban and even you, say that nobody wants to play them??? Pretty easy to say "schedules are made 14 years in advance" Just admit that was a LIE?
BC next 12-13 years has 2 OOC P5 schools every year? That doesn't fit that Narrative.
So which is it....
1.Schedule was made 2007-2021 and out of Saban/Ad control and 2022-2032 is bc Saban/AD finally have control on schedule?
2. Nobody wants to play Alabama? (saban/Ad/Fans quote)in defense of Pussy schedule.
3. 2007-2021 Scheduling like Pussies?
You're argument has been a combination of 1 & 2 (Schedule was locked in and out of Sabans control...We don't have a strong schedule bc NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY US) But the schedule from 2022-2032 blows the "nobody" narrative out of the water.

Not the neutral site games. It wasn't until January of 2008 Bama finalized their game with Clemson in Atlanta in the opening game of the 2008 schedule. Coach Saban's first opening OOC opponent he scheduled at BAMA.

Here's you attempting to make your dog shite argument actually work.

Yes, two out of 124 other teams.
You've established that a full 1.6% of teams have agreed to play Alabama.
There is literally no way of knowing how many of the other 98.4% even offered, so I don't know why you're choosing this hill to die on.

Yeah, You're right. My argument is Dog shite.
alabama had Weak AF schedule 2007-2021 bc it was locked in before Saban.
When Pressed about the Weak AF schedule, Saban/AD/Fans response..."Nobody wants to play alabama"...not bc the schedule was locked in before his arrival.
Now, after more than a Decade of being laughed at over the OOC schedule...all of a sudden...after alabama has gone on an Unprecedented run in CFB, Teams finally want to schedule alabama...Teams are knocking down the door...and they're able to put 2 P5 OOC games on the schedule every year for the next Decade...CRAZY!

"Doug Flutie will be 72."
Wow! I remember watching BC vs. Alabama back in the 80s when he was there. My primary memory from the game is Frank Broyles talking the whole time about how "awayuh" (translation: "aware") Flutie was of his surroundings. Don't ask me why I remember that; it's probably because I'd rather remember that than to remember him lighting Bama up.
