No
What is Bama actually great in academically. I always hear they have great academics, but I have no clue in what. I know their engineering school sucks compared to others and if they actually use UAB as their own that is beyond stupid.

Damn, you're right. Only Arkansas from the west does not have a bye week before playing Bama. LSU, Auburn, Miss. State, and Ole Miss needs that extra week to get ready for Bama. From the east, our rival Tennessee and South Carolina feels they need the extra week.

LSU had a game before the Alabama game. Alabama had an open date, not LSU.

Per the Sears Cup, for 2008-2009 Auburn finished 26th (fwiw, Auburn won three SEC Championships last spring -- Women's Hoops, Women's Golf, and Men's Swimming & Diving)... Alabama finished 30th.
Per 2010 US News, Auburn is the 39th ranked public university... Alabama is 43th
Over the last decade, Auburn has had the better overall athletic department.... I'm not even sure that's debatable.

The Hell Alabama's engineering program sucks. It's one of the better ones out there.
Alabama continually has one of the top ranked business schools. The marketing and accounting programs are top 30 in the country. The law school is in the top 20 among public universities.

So, you're saying, based on these two lists, which Auburn has a four gap lead in, that Auburn has commanding lead in academics and athletics. Okay.
Posted on 11/19/09 at 5:24 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Did I say "commanding"?....
No. I simply said we have better academics and a better athletic department.... those two independent sources appear to back up my claims.

The Iron Bowl is reaching new heights when you have academic smack.

After next year Bama will have had a bye week before playing LSU 3 years in a row.
So if we are trying to be your "rivals" you sure are making it easy on us.
That is some sweet math as well

If you're going to use a ten year period to say Auburn's athletic is better, that's fine. Alabama struggled in football. However, baseball, basketball, golf, softball, and gymnastics were far better for Alabama.
As for academics, Alabama has been ranked above Auburn for the better part of this decade, according to US News and World Report.

I am pretty sure they are not that good, but I could be wrong.

It sounds good when you type it, but facts don't bear that out...
08-09 AUB 26th ALA 30th
07-08 AUB 20th ALA 25th
06-07 AUB 19th ALA 43rd
05-06 AUB 25th ALA 21st
04-05 AUB 17th ALA 38th
Over the last five years, or the amount of time Jay Jacobs and Mal Moore have gone head-to-head, auburn has consistently been the better athletic department.

I beg to differ. I have a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Alabama. I can assure you it's one of the better ones out there.
