What does that have to do with Lee County and Auburn being cow country?

quote:

Tuscaloser county has 170,000 people and Lee county has 130,000 people. Tuscaloser county has over twice the land area the Lee county does, but it only has 25% more people than Lee county.

What is your point? Lee County also has a lot more people per square than Tuscaloser county does

You are a fricking idiot. JSU doesn't teach deductive reasoning, does it Calhoun?

All of those "facts" can be attributed to the size of Tuscaloosa compared to Auburn.
Crime stats are typically done on a per 100 (or 1000 or per xxxx) person basis, so that it can be transferrable and comparable from statistical area to statistical area. When comparing a city with say 50,000 people to a city with 5,000,000 people, of course the raw number of crimes will be higher in the larger city. However, when it is factored into number of crimes per 1000 citizens, the smaller city can easily outrank the larger.

I don't have numbers to compare Auburn and Tuscaloosa, or the counties as a whole, but crime rate should be apples to apples.

Gotcha. You have an altar and two names because you're too dumb to figure out how to get a password.

I think it is quite amusing that everyone here knew you were Calhoun before this admission. You are very predictable. It's quite sad really.

Simple.

Ttown is home to the highest ranked university in the state, has the better party scene, nicer facilities, and just so happens to field one of the all time greatest football programs.

Of course, you forgot to mention that the gumps have only been ranked ahead of Auburn academically and had better facilities than Auburn in the last 3 or 4 years. How did they get all the players in Alabama before then?

The crime rates I saw were based on the crimes committed per 1000 people. Tuscaloser's crime rate was higher than Auburn's based on that formula.

I am also still trying to figure what the size of the city has to do with the education level of the people in that city

1. Auburn is a college town - and pretty much nothing more. So the percentage of people in Auburn with at least a high school diploma is going to be higher.

2. Tuscaloosa is a larger city with an industrial base. We have Mercades, BF Goodrich, JVC, etc... Those places offer good pay to people without a college education.

Almost 25% of the people in Tuscaloser dont even have a high school diploma. Graduating from high school is not a hard thing to do.

I am sure there are larger towns across the United States that also have a higher education rate than Tuscaloser does

Tuscaloosa has a higher median income, higher property value, higher per capita income, higher home ownership rate, and only 3% less than Lee County in the high school graduation rate. Both Lee and Tuscaloosa County are higher than the state average when it comes to high school graduation. Tuscaloosa County , Lee County

Take into account the Mercades, JVCs, and BF Goodrich's of Tuscaloosa County that attract workers and employ thousands of individuals without high school deplomas, and I'd say that the graduation rate of people actually from Tuscaloosa and the people actually from Lee County are similar - and Tuscaloosa may even have a slight edge.

The statistics you linked are for the enire areas of Lee County and Tuscaloser county, which includes more cities than Auburn and Tuscaloser. The city of Auburn itslef has a much higher education level, much lower crime levels, and higher propery values than the city of Tuscaloser does. I will try to find a link that backs up my claim

Here is the link for the city of Auburn and the city of Tuscaloser. These links show Auburn has much higher education levels and property values than Tuscaloser does. I did not see crime reports listed among these statistics.

city of Auburn

city of Tuscaloser
