I was wrong about everything, etc., etc.

McCarron was kind of shitty up until that drive. I said that in the first sentence of my first post. But the LSU "prevent defense" narrative is hilarious.

AJ sucks. All this Heisman talk was laughable from the start.

If he is hurt it makes it harder to understand why the staff hasn't being running the ball more.

Our play calling was shite (and fwiw I don't think AJ's badly hurt by any means).

He had plenty of arm to overthrow Cooper in the LSU game, and I think he's been moving around fine the last couple weeks.

Nussmeier was predictable as hell today.

Still waiting on that link from Randal Gay's comments.

I've never said once we were in a true prevent. Soft, yes. True prevent, no.

I knew we brought 3 non-DL as rushers on that play. Honestly didn't realize we attempted to drop 2 of the 4 DL in coverage. Again, I've literally watched the play 1 time, and it was at real time speed, not a slowed down replay.

I have no idea about Randall Gay's comments. That was from another poster, apparently it was on talk radio. I actually watched the game, that's why I know the "soft coverage" rationalization is bullshite.

First Norwood catch, obviously not that soft. Second Norwood catch, beyond obviously not that soft (it was a fade/wheel route and Norwood got behind the corner ).

The "soft coverage" narrative came from Norwood's third catch where Jalen Mills lined up ten yards off him (note that he hadn't done that before) and Danielson picked up on it.

Finally, the screen. LSU didn't have "7" guys blitzing but they obviously weren't in soft coverage.

Fan-generated narrative.

Two of the plays had mingo dropping into coverage on a hybrid zone blitz with a DB blitzing

Was not a prevent
Mccarron went after the two freshmen DBs and stayed away from Simon

Yeah, LSU certainly could have been more aggressive but the coverage wasn't as soft as it was made out to be.

The first catch could have been stopped for a 7-8 yard gain and then the clock would have been running. The second was by far AJ's best read/throw of the drive. The third was the a result of the softest coverage of the drive, and then there was the screen.

Look - you beat us on two drives at the end of halves when your 2 minute offense was clearly way better than our 2 min D. We played well, but y'all still won the game. End of story.

They were in their Mustang defense. It's LSUs most predominant defensive scheme. You are misinformed if you think the Chief went soft.

That is the elephant in the room. I can understand using the passing game against LSU due to their outstanding defense. We still averaged 7 yard per carry, so I was convinced we'd pound on A&M until they stopped us.

Our new offensive coordinator may have tried to be too cute with the play calling.

1st and goal on the 6 yard line, time running out and he calls 3 out of 4 pass plays. That's not going down swinging. Our O'line needs to meet with him and set him straight.

This. It's not an excuse--lots of people play hurt and still get it done. It's this, it's the pressure, and its the opponent.

But I do think his accuracy has taken a step back.

He came up clutch when it absolutely mattered most: 1/9. So good on him. Roll Tide.
