I wonder if Mel Tucker gets a shot at the def. coordinator job at Bama. Not sure, his reign as the DC with the Bears was pretty bad - yet, he has always been a pretty good DB coach, he improved Bama's DBs this year.
Big difference in running a defense that's playing the Packers versus LSU. Why wouldn't Mel Tucker be able to a DC a damn good DC in the SEC?

Because they're friends. Just like he and Boom. Which is why we'll take Boom off the Gus Bus if we dam well want him.
friends? who cares about friends. He's going to leave a stable high paying job to go with some guy that if it doesn't end well could be fired in 3 years? Doesn't make a lot of sense on Cochran's part. Would be insane to leave Saban for a lateral move

Keep in mind that UGA is going to be saving some money by not paying Smart as much as Richt. They can afford to pony up more money for coordinators. The question is will they
While he probably rubbed the AD the wrong way, Pruitt probably opened his ruts between the differences between a very good program, and an elite program.

Saban is 64 years old brutha. The "stable" place is Athens if you believe in Smart

Then Kirby better have in mind how he will handle it the first time that idiot flies off the handle and helps him lose a ball game.

Have to admit that no HC experience does give this UGA fan pause... then again, Rich was an OC and he had no HC experience.
Remember what school Vince Dooley was the head coach at before taking the Georgia job?

Hey Bama now that you need a D Coordinator, do you want Steele back? We would like to refund our purchase. I think it's still under warranty.

Not the same situation. Kirby is running Saban's defense. Saban is the brains behind the Bama defense. Now, Richt as far as I know ran FSU's offense and there was no other offensive guru overseeing him. That's why Jimbo being hired as a head coach made more sense than Muschamp or Kirby.

Interesting how folks dismiss Kirby before he has even coached his first game.
I think this will turn out to be a good hire for UGA. Hate losing him, but Smart has waited a long time to be head coach and deserves this chance.

And Richt... he was an OC at FSU. I get it. HC experience would be more of a nice to have.
