Since 2000, the average Heisman winning QB has posted a stat line of:
247/380 (65%) 3,511 yards 33TD 9INT
114 rush 446 yards 9TD
Compare that to AJ's numbers:
219/328 (67%) 2,634 16TD 5INT
30 rush -22 yards 2TD
There is no way that AJ wins the heisman, but I am surprised to see his attempts and completions in the same stratosphere.
I would assume that most of those Heisman winners weren't throwing 80% of their passes 5 yards or less from the line of scrimmage.

Bama plays with the lead too much for there QB numbers to get very high.As long as Nick is there thet are more likly to have RB heisman canidates.

AJ McCarron is no Heisman QB but anyone who thinks he is mediocre is kidding themselves.

AJ is a solid QB, but he'll need to throw for 3500+ yards and 30+ TD's to get in the race for Heisman.

AJ is a good QB but any shot of a heisman is ridiculous.
Who the frick is he going to throw to?

If AJ has a good year and Alabama is undefeated/in a position to repeat he will get some looks. However, I think the award is Matt Barkley's to lose at this point. Greg McElroy was getting Heisman consideration 4 games into the 2010 season before he hit a slump so it's not that far fetched.
