Aggy and Mizzou: Pride

Everyone knows I'm old so the SWC has been half my life.
During the SWC years, no one cheered for another. Ever. I know for a fact post 1992, the B12 never cheered in accomplishment between their own. Ever.
Since joining the SEC, each of you have seen a sense of pride winning sports NC's in a myriad of obscure sports. Golf, track, softball... Literally on and on.
Have your minds changed re: conference pride? Everyone contributes. Almost...

Nah. No change here.
But I disagree with your premise.
I've never had a problem pulling for almost all of our conference foes who competed in national title events.
Overall, I didn't really care about it all that much then, and I don't think about other conference schools winning now.

When us and Mizzou left was when Big 12 pride was invented.

For an Aggie it might be different. We are leveraging the shite out of the brand for our own purposes, so we are all in. Go to a College Station bookstore and you will see a ton of SEC stuff. We want the SEC to continue to do well because that is our big selling point vs other colleges in our state.
Maybe a decade out or something when that doesn't put the same wind in our sails we will change our minds.

I don't know if there was much conference pride, but there were certain programs I would root for if Mizzou wasn't in the running. I always had a soft spot for Iowa State and K-State football, just because (in KState's case) they were so godawful before Snyder came. But Texas Tech winning a national championship in underwater basket weaving would have done nothing for me (unless of course they beat kU doing it).
Now I suppose I root a bit more for conference teams, but that's typically because they're playing other programs that I loathe, like Auburn playing FSU/Alabama playing OSU, etc. I don't loathe anyone in the SEC yet so it's easier to get behind them

I'm all LSU and when we're not involved, I'm all SEC. You should want greatness for your conference no matter the school bringing it in because reinforcing our brand is good for all of us.

I agree with that completely.
It was not that way at all in previous conferences. It was more root for your own team and do all you could to critically injure all other conference members. At least that is the way a lot of the schools looked at it.

post 1992, the B12
The Big12 didn't exist on paper until 1994 and didn't exist as competing schools until 1996. Just for the record.

Seeing as I have always pulled for the SEC (as long as they weren't playing A&M) it's really nothing new to me, I like football and baseball and for most of my adult life the SEC has been in the top for these 2 sports.

It's the great fan dilemma. We want all 13 teams to be really good. We just want them slightly worse than us. We are all victims of this phenomena.

I'll go with Del Gue, to an extent. "Amongst lnjuns... a tribe's greatness is figured on how mighty its enemies be."
I've always rooted for Missouri first, any team that plays kansas second, and for conference members next.

I'll say this.
In the SWC, we all hated each other. When the old guard started losing it's edge to up-and-comers, everyone started cheating and the frickING LONGHORNS had Charles Allen Wright do their bidding on the infractions committee.
I still hate all those miserable frickers and hope they all die of perfuse arse bleeding and rot in arse-rape hell.
I like the SEC schools because most of them don't remember A&M as an all male compulsory military school, like frickers from Baylor, Purple Baylor, Death Penalty U, and (to a MUCH lesser extent) Tard.

Keep in mind, TAMU was in the SIAA before they joined the SWC. In theory they returned home, not joined for the first time.
