I realize that you're the AGGIES, but slash and burn is for crops guys, not your football program.

You misspelled TCU.
Hyman was at TCU before coming to USC. So, this doesn't make sense.
I'm not a huge Eric Hyman fan because he's a gold-plated a-hole, but he's been a fine AD everywhere he's been except aTm. Maybe, and this is just a hypothetical, it's aTm that's the problem instead of everything/everyone else?

Eric Hyman has made ONE offseason move...ONE...from 2012-2016. That was to hire a women's tennis coach because the one that left wanted a place that was more suited to his "lifestyle" (even said so in his tweet announcing he was leaving)

he sounded broken in his presser.
I would have used the word "popped" but that works too. I have referred to Mr. Hyman as The Unclaimed Maidenhead, in reference to Game of Thrones (books, not HBO).

No, I am pretty sure the correct phrasing is "we just gave our future HC an extension."

Funny you should mention TCU. Remember last year's super regional?
Hyman was not good at A&M because he is still a TCU guy.

I remember when we stole him from yall and yall were happy to see him go. Quit trying to rewrite history.

Because he was an a-hole. He was largely effective in raising funds, modernizing the department, and two of his coaching hires (Staley and Martin).
But he pissed off some big money types (that probably needed to be pissed off), and he hired Darrin fricking Horn over Gregg Marshall (who openly lobbied for the job).
He wasn't perfect, but he did a lot of things right. That's not rewriting history- it's having perspective.

ecause he was an a-hole.
We ran into that too.

Which is a big deal in the oil patch.

I remember SC fans being pissed we took him. And I'm not overly happy he's leaving us, he did a good job. Maybe not that likable but our athletic programs are all in good shape overall.

Wait, A&M's AD was named Hyman? That's unfortunate

Of course not. But don't go out of your way to just completely fabricate a story so it benefits your argument on the Internet. That's all I'm saying. Alleva was protecting the athletic department from being in a bind with assistants and I think that's pretty obvious at this point. Miles not being let go changed all that, seeing as how Aranda is back in and the clause is removed.
I won't argue that Alleva should have either not had the clause in the first place, or fired Miles when it came time. But I'd rather some young new talent coaching he defense anyways. Who knows, he could be th LSU HC in the near future. Chavis never was going to be that.

I think called Chief an "assistant" is your own spin. Lets agree to disagree.

Place is a dumpster fire.....Literally....

Spin? No. He quite literally is an assistant. If you have assistants left with years on their contract, and a new HC who LSU needs insists on bringing in his on assistants, you're in a bind. Chavis is a great DC, but as you can see now, LSU has always attracted defensive coaches. Go back and look at the caliber of DCs that have been at LSU in your lifetime. Pelini, Muschamp, Chavis and now a known commodity in Aranda.
