Aggies, I'm coming to the game this week with a couple friends! Looking forward to checking out the stadium and campus. I know there have been a few aTm informative threads in the past, but can anyone give me their top suggestions for things to see on campus or restaurants(preferably BBQ) in College Station and Bryan?

for those that actually respond to the question

BBQ in BCS isn't what it should be. Fargo's in Bryan is good, cash only type place. Most of the best places are further to the west like Snow's, Cooper's, City Market, etc.

As for campus, go to Northgate along University just north of campus. Friday night should be fun and follow the crowd there after the game, it's not a bad walk from the stadium. Corner and O'Bannon's are my favorite places but there are a ton of bars on NG and you can easily pop in and out of places. Most are just holes in the wall with cheap drinks.

There is some decent food on NG, other places off it I like are Koppe Bridge, Chicken Oil and Grub (all burger places). There's the Texas chain Tex Mex like Chuy's and Lupe Tortilla that's pretty good. There's also some good local places like Casa Rodriguez in Bryan.

Hopefully someone will post the bar/restaurant guide we had on here

BBQ: C&J's is really good. Rudy's is good but more of a franchise place. One of my favorite places to eat that's off the beaten path so to speak is Shipwreck Grill in Bryan.

Here is also a great website about visiting A&M as well:

Thanks guys

I had heard of Rudy's, but if it's a chain I think I'll pass. Looking for a local experience. Might be the only time I visit.

If you're young and going with friends then spend the entirety of the night at Northgate. Tons of bars. Scout it out when you go for lunch at The Dixie Chicken.

A good dinner place might be Shipwreck Grill, Fargo's Pit BBQ (takeout only, but apparently damn good), Koppe Bridge, or your choice of chain sit-down places. Layne's Chicken Fingers is also a unique, Aggie-centric place.

Freebird's is good on Northgate. While I am not a Dixie Chicken person, they do have some good burgers and it is a popular spot for visitors more than regulars. Also on Northgate. There are also several chicken strip/wing places on Texas Avenue across from the golf course on the main campus. Koppe Bridge is also pretty good and not far from campus.

Hope you enjoy your visit.

Fargo's BBQin Bryan is the best we have to offer. Skip Rudy's, unless you just want Smoked Turkey and Beans & Potato Salad or some such.

Get some Fargo's and some Tex-Mex food.

Then, for ease, hit the Northgate Bars:

Corner Bar Rooftop -- 3 story bar with a Rooftop bar overlooking Northgate and Campus
Rebels Draft House -- 100 beers available including all the Abita beers
Cedar Lane -- Get the CedarAde and "Wake Me Up" --- fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Dry Bean Shot Bar -- 250 shots on menu that is an old Western Style Saloon
Madhatters -- 80s/90s Themed Bar
Logans -- 44 oz. tall beers
Basil Whippets -- Strongest Drinks on Northgate if you go to the 2nd floor bar
Schotzi's -- Live Music and a huge outdoor patio for drinking.
The Ranch -- Rooftop Bar as well
Zapatos -- Live Music in the Beer Garden
Church Street Blues & BBQ -- great food and live music
Tipsy Turtle -- Daquiri Bar, New Orleans Style

On game day, tail gate on West Campus near Reed Arena (it's wilder than Spence Park). Expect a little shite because you're an old SWC foe and whooped our arse for three years running.

But I bet folks will be fairly friendly after a little bullshitting.

Northgate for bars and they're alsoo many different places to eat there. You will spend most of the trip in this area.

Not much good BBQ in CS tbqh.

Go get a burger at Koppe Bridge or Dixie Chicken and wash it down with some pitchers.

Hope you guys enjoy yourselves. Go walk around Reed/Lot 100 the day of the game and you will find plenty of people willing to open up their tailgate to you.

Our fans will definitely treat Arkansas and LSU fans a bit differently than every other team in the SEC. I'm sure there will be a couple drunk a-hole students but our fans are very friendly for the most part. And the Greek tailgating is on Duncan Field just east of the stadium if you want to find your house.

West Campus is a big mix of everyone tailgating and is the rowdiest area IMO. Also has the largest volume of tailgates where people will give you free stuff. This might be the best place to find good BBQ in town on a Saturday tbh
