I hope we don't schedule anyone from the big 12 for a very long time. I want us to build our SEC brand

Dammit, Justin Beiber. The word is "dominant". Hit the books!

Hats off to Missouri and I'm not sure how they managed Arizona State and Indiana. I would guess those were scheduled years in advance of the SEC move. A&M of course HAD a marquis OOC opponent in Arkansas, but that excuse is wearing thin. This year other than Rice (yeah, they're better than Indiana for those defending Mizzou, so shut up) and maybe possibly SMU depending on SMU, the OOC schedule sucks. In 2015 we have Arizona State in Houston and UCLA in 2016 at home. Until then, flame away.
THAT was Bill Byrne.
Missouri scheduled Syracuse in 2012 right after Byrne gave excuse after excuse as to why he "couldn't get a quality nonconference opponent to come to Kyle Field on such short notice".
Plus, Arkansas has no reason to flame any school playing UL Monroe. Even Mike Sherman never gave up a 21-point 3rd quarter lead to them.

In roundball it's already a done deal with Baylor. Texas is sure to follow in a year or two. Football is only a matter of time. I'd expect Tech to be the first because of KK's influence, but we'll see. There are way too many people who want to see those games to just say "frick it".

They were in a BCS conference then, the P5 refers to the post BCS era, which again they are the member of the conference.
and SMU was in the American which had a BCS birth ergo SMU was a BCS conference opponent just like Rutgers!

I totally forgot about that. weve still been playing a P5 team
and with this revelation, I would like the OP to change his post accordingly

A&M has played an OOC team that would pound the dogshit out of Rutgers each of the last two years.

Well said, especially considering who you were replying to.

I don't think the AD was budgeted for such a low number of home games, we had to look for double directional opponents to come at home because LA Tech was essentially the only team that would play us. Remember that SMU was a 4 game home and home. Not sure on the specifics, but I believe him. Byrne was many things, but lying wasn't one of them.

I get that. But did you think we'd be playing Baylor in basketball this year? I sure didn't, not with Starr still there. The other dominoes will fall sooner rather than later. I'm guessing football against Tech in maybe '16, BU to follow, and finally t.u. sometime before 2020.

We won't play tu until we win something of significance. As in one of the six major bowls/playoffs or the SEC.

maybe not Baylor, but us scheduling a big 12 school in a sport not named football really doesn't surprise me. was more expecting tech.
quote:the only way we play tech is if we never go to Lubbock so I don't think we schedule anything long term with them, I really don't think well ever play Baylor in football ever again, and id be surprised if we play texas prior to 2020 considering how theyre booked till when? 2020 or something like that?
