And for the Bammer idiots, go rewatch the Bama game and watch the two sacks that Mathieu caused when he blitzed and got in McCarron's throwing lane or forced him to run up into the pocket and cower like a little girl. The last one took Bama out of field goal position in overtime.

He does things that most DBs can't. I consider that elite.

I don't understand nearly as much as the coaches who voted on this.

And you are wrong.

He's NOT deserving at the DB spot.
Really? Let's just look at the numbers...
Menzie
1 INT / 1 TD
23 Solo Tackles
13 Assist
3 Tackles for Loss
1.5 QB sacks
1 QB hurry
12 Pass Defenses
11 Pass Breakup
0 Forced Fumbles
Mathieu
2 Int
53 Solo Tackles
17 Assists
6.5 Tackles for losses
1.5 QB Sacks
3 QB Hurries
9 Pass Defended
7 Pass Breakup
4 Forced Fumbles / 2 TDs
And on special teams, 2 TDs
No comparison...DB or Special Team stats.

It depends on what you call "worse stats." If there's a db that gets zero tackles and zero interceptions and zero passes defended because nobody dares throw his way an entire season, then I'd say yes.
So you would honestly take Menzie's season over TM7's? TM has more tackles, FF, Int's than Menzie, yet you want Menzie?
Posted on 12/5/11 at 10:35 am to Teague
Good point, but let's take Menzie out of the equation. HB is better than the other guy, right?

you really are out of your element here arguing that Menzie deserves a DB spot on that team over Mathieu. You really look like you lack knowledge of the game. The slot doesn't say its for "cover corners" or "lockdown defenders", it says DB. Do you need me to explain to you what that means? If you think Menzie has been more of a difference maker from the DB spot than Mathieu then well... you really are as stupid as you sound.

Again, I haven't said anything about Menzie.
I'm just pointing out why TM isn't on the list.

I haven't seen any coach say that TM7 is not an elite DB. I have seen you say it.

Alabama runningback Trent Richardson and LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne headline the 2011 AFCA FBS Coaches’ All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
Richardson is fifth in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging 131.92, and has scored 23 touchdowns this season, ranking him fifth in scoring at 11.5 points per game. Richardson is a finalist for the Maxwell Award and the Doak Walker Award. Claiborne has totaled 46 tackles, 28 of them solo, and six interceptions, which ranks him No. 9 nationally. He also has 12 passes defended and six pass break ups. Claiborne is a finalist for the Thorpe Award and the Bronco Nagurski Trophy.

That is the argument however. The other dB's on their deserve to be there. The last spot is taken by Menzie, leaving TM7 off, therefore, the argument is why Menzie is more deserving than TM7.

ironic that your screen name is after a guy who is only known because he had one strip fumble. A poor man's Tyrann Mathieu.
