Yeah I think that shows in the fact that since SC-Arky joined in '92 'Bama has won 2 regular season titles but 6 tournament titles.

You mean, co--champs with the team that BEAT YOU...AT HOME?? 
Know why Jason White of OU was tougher than Eli that year? LSU had to actually KNOCK him down on 4th and 10 to win the game.

You could say the same thing about the SEC Championship Game in football, or tourney in basketball.
Alabama may have been an average team in 2002 and 2003, but won the baseball tournament both years. That doesn't make it any less impressive. That's just baseball.

It could also be said that it's easier to get hot in a 3 game series and win a Super Regional - not that Ole Miss would know that...

Not in years when a division is down. LSU was a 8-3 team in 2001, when they beat a Tennessee team one win away from the NCG. That LSU team came together at the right time.

Yeah but to go back to the idea of the tournament champion kind of being "the" SEC champion.. sure the tournament is a nice accomplishment and should mean something but I dont think that makes you THE SEC champion. (ie UGA basketball team that won the SEC tourny a couple years ago with a losing record.. I dont think many are ready to crown them THE SEC champion of that year)

That's why we should either count the tournament champion (baseball or basketball ) as the true champion, or do away with the tournament, counting the regular season champion as champion.

I think basketball should follow in baseballs foot steps and have to earn the conference tournament. At least the 8th place team is somewhat decent to be in that spot. I wouldn't mind seeing it only go to the top 4 (for baseball)
