Basically the question is, giving the recruiting, which is top ten, where do you see A&M in 14, 15, 16 and then.............................

JFF will be gone as will 1 possible 2 first round OL. A&M is on lots of JUCO. Who knows. WRs for days. QBs for days. RBs for days. OL potential issue all the way to potential strength. But considering Sumlin's ability to move the Ball I see O as OK.

D. - The Freshman class on D is awesome but the D is terrible. Seems worse than it should be even for freshman. But the next class on D is alwso awesome. so D should be better.

Team falls but plays hard. 8-4 close games. Pops true SEC (no JFF) cherry.

2015 - D should be solid - recruiting juniors. A&M should be a step behind LSU and Bama but scary.

From there we have to watch this class.

So where does the rant see A&M settling into the long term?

Making it a Bama LSU Aggie West

Or a Bama LSU

ARK AUB A&M West - that is the question.

It's hard enough to figure out which mascot head to put on week to week much less prognosticating years down the road.

Losing a player like Johnny is an interesting topic for those interested in football. One of the most maybe ever.

Ill continue to stick to Texas defensive players being soft.

aTm is going to have to go where everyone else goes for defensive linemen, and that's not Texas.

Texas high school footballs is too much spread, hurry up offense with no athletes being put on defense....everything is focused on offense it seems in that state....

Just an SEC fans opinion....

Not really going to argue that although half the d is from LA.

But the question is specifically your cuess on the record of 14, 15, 16 and a basic settling in point.

Not specific. Just Top 6. Mid 4 or bottom

Looking for anyone interested in discussing where A&M fits in the SEC order after JFF.

Thank those that have already answered for their addition of noting.

Too many variables to give an intelligent guess. Does Evans stay till he is a SR. Does Sumlin stay for three more years? If yes, do all of his assistants stay.

Texas A&M historically is on par with Arkansas.

In the 90's, The west was won by Alabama, Arkansas, State, and Auburn.

In the 00's the west was won by Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Auburn

Alabama isn't going any place as long as Saban is there. LSU will be solid as long as they have a competent staff.

aTm benefited greatly IMOmfrom entering the league when both Arkansas and Auburn were on the slide with coaching changes, so technically you haven't seen the full gauntlet of the SEC West.

aTm got a small taste when playing Arkansas in Dallas. In 2010, Auburn won the title, Arkansas went to BCS, Alabama won 10 games, LSU won 11 games, State won 9 games.

2011 saw Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas 1-2-3 in the BCS. Auburn won 8 games, State won 8 games.

Tough shite when everyone is rolling.

I think aTm has been a bit lucky. They've so far, avoided injuries on the Oline, and key skill positions.

So,mits hard to say. Arkansas and Auburn will get things rolling in a year or two, then we can really judge.

A&M already gets a lot of defensive talent from Louisiana. There are plenty good players left after LSU gets who they want, but Sumlin is going to eventually flip some players from them, just like they already do to us.

The sooner the better. We're waiting for y'all to be good again so we can stop hearing excuses about why A&M has done well in the SEC so far. It's partly due to the SEC not being heads and shoulders better than every other conference like some believe and is perpetuated by the media. We're good now because we hired the right coach and have enough talent, especially at QB. That would be true even if Arky and Auburn stayed the same.

We were really fortunate last year to avoid the injury bug. It hasn't been that way this year, but overall not too much bad luck. As for the o-line we're deep like good SEC teams are on the defensive front.

Everything is cyclical, but making good hires and recruiting well trumps that. I think A&M will still be good when Johnny and Sumlin leaves, assuming recruiting doesn't drop off.

A&M will definitely be contenders with their recruiting

Will they stay at this level? I don't really think so. Sumlin is great with QBs but the odds of finding a QB even close to Manziel's level is slim to none. Looking forward to not playing him next year

The West will be crazy when Arkansas and Auburn have had another year or two to get everything fully installed and a few recruiting classes. The only team I see being shitty without a doubt is State. Luckily though they make everyone else's records in the West look better

We'll really see an improvement once Bielema has his type of defensive players in

Hey Orange Baylor - Paint your field orange like Boise and get off these boards - Jesus. I mean you have a conference with 10 shitty teams and no championships.

That A&M just dumped about 600 yds - the most in Bama history while you gave up the most rushing in Texas history in 1 half vs BYU. and Ole Miss the beat your arse got goose egg v Bama.

can some one ban his arse.

My question is to the SEC people - where does A&M settle in in the sec.

Well we have arguably the nation's #1 pro style QB from Scottsdale coming in next season, so thats about as good as you could do as far as replacing Manziel, is it not? Obviously losing the best player in CFB hurts, but it doesn't mean the momentum of the last 2 years + improved defense via recruiting will not lessen the blow significantly.

So now to see if Sumlin can revamp his offense to utilize a pro style quarterback. It's an odd recruiting choice regardless of position ranking. Obviously you don't turn down a topnotch quarterback out-of-hand, but both of Sumlin's crown jewel quartbacks were duals.

Im worried about the OL. We are already desperately seeking OL.

On D - Im worried about Synder's ability to have a Bama / LSU every year even with the jimmies and Johns

First off, you never settle in.

I'm not sure that Aggies fully understand how the SEC works, yet, but I think it's quite different from other conferences. While some teams have consistently fared better, and others have consistently fared worse, everything changes rapidly in the SEC.

For example, 15 years ago Tennessee was the most dominant team and Alabama was bringing up the rear. MSU even won a division title during this time and that's something only Ole Miss has failed to do in the West (not including A&M, for obvious reasons.) My point is that there are yearly changes and no teams dominate the way Texas or Oklahoma or Nebraska did in the SWC/Big-12 for long.

Onward to A&M, as long as Sumlin is there, I think you guys will compete for SEC titles, which is no small feat. Maybe you'll win one or more and maybe you won't? Even after Sumlin's gone, I think the SEC will be great for A&M, just as I always have, but I still think you guys may find it more difficult then you do now, because you've had so much early success.

Finally, A&M has always had the resources, but not the drive. Right now A&M is giving it all up to prove themselves to their new conference mates, but I'm skeptical that such enthusiasm will remain after the initial excitement wears off. A&M has a history of under-performing and I suspect that will continue.
